As a American, we are accustomed to many types of freedoms, but due to the Patriot act we might lose some of these freedoms. After September 11th, our country was devastated and taken aback by an attack on American soil. Many people wanted nothing but revenge on the people who were responsible. During this time we began to give the president more powers because we fetl as though he would vindicate us. If only we knew how wrong we were and how he would come to abuse his powers. The Patriot gives him the right to tap our phones, read our emails, and mail. We have no type of privact whatsoever anymore. We are up for grabs to the government when and if they feel like. I understand that he may feel as though he is doing us a great justice, but randomly wiretapping thousancs of people instead of just going after the people you suspect is ridiculous and an invasion of privacy. Without probable cause, the goverment is just eavesdropping on our live.
As the American people we should be outraged and demand some type of respect from our government. If we dont we may see ourselves in a future that may be likened to A Brave New World.
