With Barack Obama now the clear frontrunner in the Democratic race, the question begs asking: Can Hillary Clinton win? She was the frontrunner only weeks ago, but the last ten states, including Wisconsin which pundits everywhere were certain would go to Clinton, all voted for Obama. Her traditional "loyal" demographics - women, whites, and those earning less than $50,000 per year, have now switched over to Obama (the notable exception being the female vote, which is about equally split between Obama and Clinton). So does our first female hopeful have a chance at being more than a hopeful?
Personally, I hope not. America may not be ready for a black president, but I don't think it's any more ready for a woman president, so there's one argument against Obama out the window. She's got experience, certainly... but what we need right now is drastic change, in my humble opinion. Obama's a bright kid, he'll learn. Hopefully.
Besides, I think a lot of this country just can't stand Hillary. I don't know quite why, but I think a large portion of Americans find her simply too aggressive or something, because people seem to either love her or hate her. Especially with McCain being the almost certain Republican candidate, I think we need a well-liked Democrat in the running to avoid losing the independent vote to McCain.
Que sera sera... but I'd prefer if que sera is Obama in the oval office.

I'd prefer to see almost anyone else in the Oval Office.
Electing Hilary would be akin to electing a socialist dictator.
I was talking to my brother, and said that I wasn't sure if a women could ever be president, because of that little red flag or lack thereof that happens about once a month. His reply? It's not like terrorists know her schedule.
This is only meant to be a funny comment, not an attack on the idea of a woman president, so please don't take it as that.
... it's really not funny. It's demeaning, and I am offended by it.
I could just as easily say a man can't be president because he'd always be thinking with the wrong head. Which really isn't that funny, either, considering our Presidential history.
Word.
Also, I don't think it matters if America "isn't ready" for a black or female president. America will adapt just fine.
We not only need a well-liked Democrat, we need a well-liked President of the US at all. We look horrible on the international scale with a leader we as a democratic populace hate.
For me, I don't like many of her views, but aside the political aspect I find her quite annoying.
My sociology teacher said, "A powerful, strong, intelligent man is a leader. A powerful, strong, intelligent woman is a bitch."
That is not necessarily my opinion, but I feel like most of America might see her as a power-hungry woman, not a leader. These are just my thoughts, now please don't attack me.
Après la pluie le beau temps. ♥
Now that Clinton dropped out I think Obama needs to honor her as VP. There are way too may republicans for Obama to win so he must use her to his advantage and put the past behind him. I think if he does this he will have a good shot at beating the other candidate John McCain.
