Why are homosexual couples denied the same rights as heterosexual couples? If two people are in love and want to spend their lives together they should be allowed to do so. Sometimes forming civil unions is not enough. A civil union is not about celebrating a couples love for each other. When a man and a woman marry, they have the option of standing front of all their friends and family and celebrating their committment to each other. Why is a homosexual couple denied the right to celebrate their love for each other? And why is it so much harder for them to adopt children? This couple wants to give a child a better life. Not allowing homosexual couples to have the same rights and heterosexual couples is discrimination. They're people who work, walk, talk, breathe, bleed, just like everyone else on this planet. Why should they be denied the same rights as everyone else?

I think it should and not because I am gay. I actually am married to a wonderful husband. Although it is denonced by the bible it is however the person's choice to make. There isn't anything to be politically correct about. People should be more accepting to something that has been around for a long long time. The world is changing and true Christians should be more forgiving. They don't have to agree with it but accept that its not really wrong. Really humans aren't all going to become gay because a few gay people get married. It isn't going to create a decrease in population. It might actually help stabilize the population. Above it is important that they are in love and no matter what are commited to life long commitment.
Despite the fact that it is "denounced in the Bible", we should consider the idea that while the Bible is a significant work of Christianity it is extremely outdated. The Bible also states that homosexuality is not only "adbominable" but they should also be burnt at the stake. The Bible also states that a child should be stoned if he or she rejects his or her faith. The Bible also states that the man is fully in charge of the woman. The Bible also states that when a woman has her period she is is unclean for 3 days and during that 3 day period she must be isolated from society.
So saying something should be legal or illegal because it is in a religious document really is not a liable argument. Ultimately, marriage is about love no matter what your orientation is.
The fact that homosexual's are not allowed to marry is an abomination of civil rights. Just to note I am a 100% heterosexual male with no close homosexual friennds (that I know of). However right is right and wrong is wrong. People rarely see how something would affect them if the shoe was on the other foot. No one thinks of how they would feel if it were outlawed to profess their love to their husband or wife. They say that homosexuality is unnatural, it was also said at one point that it is unnatural for blacks to be free.
Conservative=Capitalist. Every single move that they make is in the interest of gaining money. It is well known that it cost less to be married than it does to be single. If homosexuals were allowed to be married then there would be less middle class tax money to get. Therefore creating a hole in the pocket of the government which would force them to raise the taxes on the wealthy (god forbid they do that).
Conservatives only use morality as a means to get the general public (middle class) behind them so that they can maintain their positions of power then use the power gained through the middle class votes against the middle class citizens. They have found a way to effectivley maintain the support of big business all the while scaring and preaching the middle-class into voting for them. They play on the minds of us all. They are no doubt shrewd and organized. The take pride in their money so they cut taxes. The middle class take pride in their values so they play saint. However it is all a political move to control us all.
it isn't 'denounced in the bible' as much as the bible has been mistranslated.
3 words: Read the fucking Constitution. All of you.

Actually that's 5 words, no I am wrong, it's 4
In his play "Torch Song Trilogy" Harvey Firestein stated the following in a rant to his anti-gay mother:
"You lost yours (husband) in a nice clean hospital! You know where I lost mine? I lost mine (his lover, Alan Simon) on the street! 27 years old, beaten to death by children, Ma! Children taught by people like you, who think that queers don't matter! Queers don't love! And those that do deserve what they get!"
Gay or straight, we are all human beings. And regardless of what the Constitution says, the most sacred right we have AS HUMAN BEINGS is the freedom to choose who we love. From the same play:
"Imagine, just for a second, that every book, every magazine, every TV show, every billboard, suggested that YOU SHOULD BE GAY. You're not, you know you're not, but..."
