I'm sure that most of you bloggers have receieved comments about your blog that may seem like the person misunderstood you. Yesterday, I wrote a blog about teen parents and how teens aren't ready for parenthood. I stated that it was my opinion and the people thought that I had something against teen parents and I thought that they would never make it in life. That was the exact opposite of what I said. I don't mind a little constructive critisism but I honestly don't like it when people misunderstand me and I state that I'm not offending anyone. I felt really bad yesterday and I am wondering if this happens to a lot of bloggers. I was thinking about editing my blog but I'm not sure I should do that if someone misunderstands me. Also, we all have freedom of speech and everyone is entitled to our own opinion so why is it that people get soooo upset? This is the whole point of blogging. You say how you feel without hurting others. Should we bloggers keep saying over and over again that we are not offending anyone and that this is OUR OPINION?? It truly seems this way and I just want to know if there are other people out there who feel the same way. Someone will probably read this blog and blame me for going againts people who make comments but that isn't what I am trying to do. I am just saying that we bloggers just don't like getting misunderstood. For those who comment, remember that I am not offending people who make comments. Thank you.

i just started posting blogs yesterday and i already feel what you are talking about. we are here to share our opinions and make others think, not to be rude and i hope most people understand that.
Thanks for understanding. I first blogged yesterday too but I am going t keep on blogging and if someone misundersatnds me, it's their problem that they have bad comprehension skills not mine.
When I first started blogging on progressive last year, I felt like I was consistently under attack, but here are the things I have come to learn and understand:
My blogging was bad
-no necessarily awful, but I was posting about things that weren't relevant to the progressive community, not taking the time to organize my thoughts, and disregarding grammar and formatting.
-poor formatting and excessive grammatical errors will cause people to not read your entire post (and some people won't read the entire post even if it reads like a Washington Post article.) Those people will still leave comments based on your first few statements.
Some people suck
-grammar nazis we can get over, but occasionally (especially around contest time) there seems to be an onslaught of self righteous pricks who have nothing better to do than to attack those with different view than their own.
-What you have to say will almost always ruffle someones feathers, they will get pissy and take it out on you in comment form.

"...She threw her hands up in the air
Jesus take the wheeeeel!"
"I'm not sure she really understands how it works..."
I think a lot of misunderstandings on the internet stem from the fact that you can't hear a person's tone, or see the facial expression that the person has.
When talking to someone face to face, you can clearly see what the person is saying, but when there is an absence of this, it makes it difficult to get the true meaning.
The curse of the internet. I think it's habit when you read something to take it personally. Especially when it's the internet because you can't really put a name or a face to what you're reading. You project inflection in the "tone" of blogs and make up personalities for whoever is behind that. Some people just want to feel confronted and confront. Plato said it well: "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something."

I enjoy reading this blog you did a great job you should be proud of yourself. These are the comments that I dislike the most due to the fact that they do not help me to better myself. The misunderstood blog is more often the fault of the reader not the writer. Not meaning to say that the writers do not make mistakes that can make their blog unreadable.
I just recently came back to ProU and have started writing again I have had very little to no comments left on my blogs so I have not seen any misunderstood comments on my blogs as of recently but a year ago they were really bad. I like your post you may wish to break it up into paragraphs to make it easier to read thank you for blogging
I am not telling you to read my blog but if you want you can access it at http://www.progressiveu.org/223749-unfairness-doctrine
