With this being my first blog, I had a little trouble deciding on something to write about. So I decided to go to a news site to get some ideas. Being stongly liberal, I started to go to the CNN website, but then no, FoxNews. Once on the poorly designed, ungliness that is the FoxNews website, I stumbled onto an article updating us all on the Senator Craig scandel.

Surprisingly enough, our friends at FoxNews have made Craig seem a lot worse than our enemies at CNN.

Okay I see what's happened here. Political orientation aside, we are to take sides with this man based on his sexual orientation. FoxNews is making him seem worse because he has had a homosexual encounter. CNN isn't making him look quite so bad. Honestly, I had originally thought being Republican, FoxNews would be kinder, but apparently not. Poor Larry Craig, FoxNews is not giving him any more support.
But seriously, why the hell is this such a big deal? Both articles talk about how pissed off he's getting over these accusations of being called gay. Why is there this "pressure" on this man to define his sexuality? Whether he's gay or not, he clearly wants a little manly love every now and then, but why does that matter? Frankly this is why I'm getting at: Why is being gay or lesbian or biseuxal such a big deal and so taboo? Homosexuality kills someone's politcal career in the U.S., yet Paris can have a gay mayor. It is articles like these that show how much progress is needed for members of the glbt community, yet there is very little shedding light on the situation. When is someone going to rise up from the community to lobby for this progress?

Paris can have a gay mayor because Europe as a whole seems to be way more progressive in their minds than we are. We may be 'diverse' as a country however, I think our mentality is still small. I'm not generalizing everyone however, you don't really see a change down the WHOLE middle of the United States, beginning with North Dakota. I dont' know what it is.
I've been overseas to Europe and the people live a much more 'relaxed' life over there.
