White House Press Secretary Scott McLellan has given his final press briefing. WEll, at least it is his final press briefing as the White House Press Secretary.
The Washington Post says it was like a greatest hits show; he stuck to the ol' reliable statements throughout the 45 minute set briefing.
"This country is on a solid track under this president because of his leadership.""We're more interested in looking at the results, not the polls."
"We are winning in Iraq."
Like Ari Fleischer before him, McLellan ended on a bit of a friendly day from the press.
To David Gregory, a famous sparring partner of McLellan's, especially after the Dick Cheney shooting affair, McLellan said, "This is it for you, pal."
McLellan has been with President Bush since Bush's days as Governor of Texas. McLellan's replacement as Press Secretary will be, of course, Fox News commentator Tony Snow.
McLellan has held these press briefings since July 15, 2003 -- he lasted nearly three years in a very tough job.
McLellan, as Stephen Colbert said, "could say nothing like no one else."
Now it's time to bring on another liar Press Secretary.
