It's no secret that Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick of Detroit, Michigan is in deep trouble. He is now facing charges of perjury among other offenses after he was found out to have lied about an affair he had with his chief aide.
However, it's how he got caught that raised my eyebrows-he managed to get caught due to seizure of his text messages.
Now, before this event, did anyone suspect that a record of their text messages were even kept. Even so, did any of us think that they could be seized? When one ponders on the subject, it seems feasable. After all, such a maintenance of records managed to lead a potential felon to justice.
With that being said, the fact that my text messages are kept and could be released both intrigues me and scares me. I'm not too keen on my dinner plans being written down and possibly released to the law at will.
I know that this record keeping can benefit many, but I'd still like to keep my personal text conversations just that-personal. If the government can seize our text messages, what's to stop them from putting us on even more invasive suveillance?
Something to think about. Maybe we oughta truly watch what we write.
Mayor K May Be Onto Something

Text messages were one thing I hadn't thought about that could be successfully "wire-tapped". I wonder if last semester the government knew what time I was eating dinner with my roommate...

LOL-thanks for your feedback.
I heard that "certain" people were looking to get the mayor out of office. That was how the investigation began.
Sounds like Kenneth Star/Clinton all over again.
