Being a Christian I would like to adress the Church and it's problems. Many recognize the church as a haven for phoniness, and it makes me sick...Because it's true. Most people in the western church are full of lies and want to condemn everyone around them. They are bashing people with scripture (that often times doesn't go along with whats happening), they are dogmatic, and sadly, often uninformed. However this is not Christianity. True Christianity is about loving people, not condemning people. Love can be "tough love" though, and may come across as "intolerance" or something, but really a true Christian will want what's best for the world, and for people. I consider it one of the calls in my life to expose the extensive hypocracy in the Western Church, it greatly sadens me. BUt dont be fooled by such foolery as many "christians." they have accepted God's grace, but not his sacrifice, and thus are not Christian. I would like to apologize for the phoniness of the Western Church. but realize that is not real christianity.

I agree totally . No one is who they portray on sunday morning. We are all flesh and thats how we act. Its when you are aware of it that you can make a change.Great blog
I do not belong to the Western Church, but I am a Christian, and strongly so. I "feel for you" as they say, when you complain about the phoniness of the members of your faith. One saying I often hear about the members of my religion is, "The doctrine is true, but the people aren't." Being raised in the faith, I sometimes find it hard to not get caught up in the society of church goers.
I think more people, Christians in particular, should read CS Lewis's writings. He defines Christianity quite acurately, in my opinion, even though he was an atheist for part of his life.
Perhaps it is the best thing, when we are confused or frustrated with the way things are going, to "go back to drawing board" or realize what we realy know to be true.
Agreed. Just because some go to church, they think that they can condem others. So sad.
I know plenty of people who go to church, are influencial in the church and have the love that Christianity speaks of. They do not condemn others or speak ill of them, yet they continue to go along with the condemning that the church does because they are part of that church. It's like they contradict themselves because they want to fit in with their type of people, but it's no excuse to not try to change something when you are able to. I know that Christianity teaches that a Christian should be bold and not back down. When you have so much influence, why is that still so hard?
-"You've achieved success in your field when you don't know whether what you're doing is work or play." - Warren Beatty
A christian is to be bod, and fight injustice, but to often Christians lose sight of how to do it. It needs to be out of love, not a desire to feel better about yourself, it's about helping people, not making them feel like crap. Sometimes they need to feel like crap before you can help them, but telling people that they're going to hell is not the best way to help people, in most cases.
I'm sorry you had to go through this. I also have had bad experiences with the church. However it has not dampened my faith but grown it. You see what is the wrong way to love, so now be encouraged to shine in the love of Christ as he would have you do. Throw of everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. Fix your eyes on Jesus. and act as he would.
I totally agree. The message of Christ (thus the name Christianity) is the golden rule. Not all the little rules that were left over from long ago like stone your neighbor's non virgin sheep or what ever the old testiment said.

If people new that Church was establush By God and that Gods pourpos. for us going to church. It Is post to be all about Folling the excample of Jesus Christ.. His Church His ways .So remember the next time you go to church .why your there To learn and when you learn then you to can help others, why they go to Church .
My family and I travel 2 hours in order to go to church. We couldn't find one around our home. I think the big problem is it became about religion and tradition, and that is how most churches lost their passion for God. I'm glad I get to go to a church that doesn't preach hate and/or dogma. I attend a church with thousands of people who love God and others. They are some of the kindest people I know. However, my classmates are different; they attend the churches that need some help and they don't really understand their Christianity or what God is about. I try to work on them, but it's hard to get through sometimes.
