Kind of Overrated

I recently watched Ghost in the Shell: Innocence, and I was surprised that it wasn't as exciting as I expected to be. GITS starts off in classic fashion with Batou at a crime scene and already I'm impressed with visual aspect of the movie making the film completely CGI was a good idea but some of the charm of the original was lost by the movie looking too beautiful rather than having raw landscapes from the first movie for example in the scene where the Major is in the ferry moving through the city.

I was very disappointed witht he film particularly in the second half of the film when both Batou and Togusa travel to Locus Solus and the dialogue is nothing but quotes and references so obscure only a college professor of literature would have any idea what the hell they were talking.

But GITS redeemed itself a lot with the last scene where Batou decides to take down Locus Solus rambo-style leaving Togusa behind to tackle the company alone. This is the classic GITS I love high-tech hacking techniques, extreme gun play and badass fighting moves. I was pleased when the Major joined Batou once again to help her old partner.

The ending was a little cliche with Batou dropping off Togusa at his home (the classic family man) and Batou just looks off into the distance. In short an average ending to an average movie a shame that such a great movie as Ghost In the Shell has to be associated to this sequel. Innocence may not be the best film but at least its no Blade Trinity.
Im not sure if this is the classic blog entry but, this was my first one and I wanted to write about the movie, so there it is. Hope everyone likes it.
