We're the USA and we can do whatever we want

I hear everyone complaining about the US and Iraq and taking over because we're just in it for the oil. Ok, so?

We need oil, there is an actual US policy that states that if we were not able to get oil, if there was just some threat to get oil, then we would go to war. Some people tell me that that is kinda harsh on account of we hoard food that people do actually need to maintain living. But who cares? No one, because we can do whatever we want.

Back in the days of the Cold War, after the first Iranian Crisis, the US put the Shah into power. That was cool. Whatever. I mean it made a totalitarian state, but we weren't realy caring because we got cheap oil. A cute price of 15 cents a barrel.

Later, the Shah was taken from power and the new guy that was democratically elected decided that it was unfair that the US got to pay 15 cents while everyone else paid 55 cents. So, he raised it to a dollar for everyone.

The US did not like this new democratic guy. But they were trying to fight against Communism, and this new guy is democratic and great. Ike didn't care, he wanted the oil back to its cheap price and the US backed a coup to remove the new government from power and put the Shah back in power.

After the Shah was put back in power, the price for a barrel in the US went to 5 cents. But they put a dictatorship back in place. If the US didn't care about something so crucial when up against the risk of not having cheap oil back then, why would anyone care now that this war is just about the oil? What would a better reason be?

You are right. The US does tend to get what they want. Wheather they take it by force or the fact that the smaller nations are probably afraid that Bush wil declare war on them. Keep up the good writing!
