Prince Harry--In Iraq!?

So I was downtown today looking at the headlines running across one of the local TV channel buildings, and the following headline caught my eye (words not exact)
"Prince Harry to Serve In Iraq as a Commander"

The Western world is screwed.

After seeing the headline, I called my mom and we had a discussion about it.  What if the prince is kidnapped?  What if something happens to him during his commanding post?  Then the war will not only be about follies and misleading, but it will also be about a prince!

Why is this the preferred way of a member of the Royal family to show his glory?

So I don't see England completely pulling out of Iraq in the immediate future, since they will be fighting for the prince, who will show the world "how the Royal family gets it done".

As far for America, if anything happens to the prince, it will be dug even deeper into the war.  Even if nothing happens, Bush will see a continuation of an ally in England, and will not hesitate sending in more troops.

They are slowly starting to pull out. The same time that England announced that Prince Harry is going to fight in Iraq, the government it starting to take out English troops. About 1,500.

This is not a way for Prince Harry to "show his glory". He graduated from Sandhurst just like the rest of his regiment. He's even been quoted as saying that he doesn't want (or expect) special treatment and he would've left the army had he been excluded from military combat because of his royal status. I'm sure Prince Harry knew that this was a possibility when he entered Sandhurst. He's 3nd in line to the throne, so I don't even think this could even be considered as Britain flexing their muscle and trying to look oh-so powerful.

The war isn't as bad in most places anymore. I think its great that he is willing to serve for his country. That shows he is truly a great man for his country.

alright i've reconsidered a part of my blog...i wish Bush or Cheney went to serve in Iraq, but I still think it propagates a dangerous situation.
