There is a subjest that many people don't bring up beacuse many people take extreme sides when it comes to this subject and it is the issue of abortion. Even though this is a political issue I believe that this also falls under the morallity issue. If you think it is wrong explain , and if you think it is right or ok then explain when it is okay. I am a Roman Catholic and we are against it since we believe all life is sacred even the life of a murderer. So I wanted to learn more and hopefully other people can learn more about what other people thin kand it may help us see this subject in a whole new way. Is an abortion morally acceptable or is it murder?? What are your thought on this subject??? Some people say abortin is okay if that person was raped or if they are in high school, but some may say that it is like killing a human and there should be punishment. Why should abortion be legalized or not legalized? What are the positives and negatives and how can people benefit from either having abortion legalized or not legalized.

First, people do talk about this sub.ect all the time. Debates about it show up almost weekly, and sometimes daily, on this site. But you are right that it becomes an emotional issue.

Second, abortion is already legal. Is your question whether it should REMAIN legal? The word legalize means to make legal. If it's already legal, it can't be made legal again. Just a little grammatical issue, I think.

Although I would like to see fewer abortions, I feel strongly that it should remain legal. When abortion was illegal in our country, there were horrible consequences. Women still had abortions, but they had to go to underground places in back alleys or they resorted to home remedies like using a coat hanger. The same thing happened when alcohol was prohibited, people didn't stop drinking, they just did it underground. So, l feel if people are going to have abortions, it should be in a safe environment with a doctor who can objectively tell them about the consequences of abortion. The answer is education not prohibition.

You said We believe. You were refering to the Roman caothlics. my question for you is why should an institution decide what you personally believe in? Shouldnt you decide that for yourself instead of folowing blindly like all the other sheep? But back to your question on abortion. It has nothing to do with morality. Because in each different society in the world their is a different prespective on ethics and morality. So you being Christian doesnt mean that you are right. In my opinion Morality doesnt exist. Its just the values placed on society by a group of people. Nature has no ethics or morality. So is it wrong to abort an embryo or even a fetus? No. Its neither right or wrong. but to get into the legal standpoint of it being murder, you have to look at the legal definition. "The unlawful killing of another human being without justification or excuse". In most cases for Abortion their is ussuaily some form excuse involved. Most of the time its the women not actually wanting to get pregnant. Discarding the embryo is definitly not a crime. The question is when is the fetus officially a human being. Until birth its just a fetus. Now to dispose of the fetus at a late stage isnt neccesary. If you have the option earlier on then do it. if not, then really dont bother. But what gives You, or anyone else the right to make such a huge demand to a person? because your church says so. The government doesnt have the right to get that involved in a persons body. whatever that person chooses is their choice, not yours, wether you like it or not. And by the way, for some states it is legal, for others it is not.

I certainly agree that it is a moral issue. And I personally would consider the action immoral under most circumstances. However, I don't think that my ideas about morality should be considered when dealing with this situation that doesn't involve me in the slightest. I think that it should be left to the mother to decide what is best.
However, I am opposed to late term abortions with the exceptions of health risks because I believe that sentience is what makes a person human so, once you've got a working brain...

To answer some of the questions people had. I do agree that an institution has no right to tell one what they should believe, but I agree with the catholic church that abortion should not occur at all. Some people may say what if they were raped? Well there are other options that a young girl or any women can do instead of an abortion. Such as adoption of the baby or even keeping the baby as their own. Its a life and every life is worth having. Now think of your mom. Now think of a world where you didn't exist because your mom didn't want you to destoy her life. Now do you really think you destroyed her life or did you bring her a gift?? Its just another way to look at it. I personally believe that our world is so self absorbed and is only worried about themselves and our society is never willing to sacrifice for anyone else. Its always about us, us, us. Sometimes we must carry our cross and this can be a cross that we carry and it only makes us stronger.

There are lives that can be destroyed if they have a baby, regardless as to whether or not they keep it.
