Indonesia Earthquake

The U.S. government is ready to help Indonesian quake victims, if Jakarta request its aid after a powerful earthquake struck the main island of Java. The 6.2-magnitude quake, which struck just after dawn on Saturday, was the third major tremor to devastate Indonesia in 18 months and killed more than 3,000 people near the royal city of Yogyakarta.

"Certainly, the United States is on stand-by to offer whatever kind of assistance the Indonesian government may indicate to our State Department that they may need," Pentagon spokeswoman Cheryl Irwin said.

I am glad that the United States is prepared to help out this country. Many areas are being devasted this spring season it seems like. I have a feeling it is going be a bad tropical storm/hurricane season this year. I wonder if it has anything to do with global warming. Would that have an affect?

Wow I guess indonesia is a bad spot to live in huh? I feel bad for them but guess what we can't fix ourselves... It's more important to help yourself then others. Well in this case fix your own country before trying to fix others.

I agree. Why doesn't the U.S. first help itself before it starts helping other countries? Besides, sending help to Indonesia is essentially useless. Wasted energy and money.

finally a news story thank you

????

It's good that America decided to help Indonesia. Hopefully if hasn't any 'hidden thoughtrs', as I can see it has lately. (You know, saying it wants to help others, and it starts a war, or something)
