Hi all2nice; Welcome to ProgressiveU

I agree with you on Mr. Spell Check's lack of ability to distinguish between a cell phone and a computer. For us to be able to understand what you're saying, no matter how articulate or lame-brained, we have to be able to read it. So please, for the sake of us to did something in school, learn to type so that regular people can read it.
HOMMIE, IF YOUR SQUAR ASS CANT UNDERSTAND WUHT IM SAYIN, YOU NEED TO GO PLAY ON THE FREEWAY,.....BET U UNDERSTOOD THAT! SO IF YOUR GONNA REPLY TO A POST, REPLY TO THE MESSAGE AND NOT TO THE CONTENT....

Square ass? First off, if you're gonna dis someone, don't hide behind a computer. Second, you must be stupid if you thought what you said made sense. "REPLY TO THE MESSAGE AND NOT TO THE CONTENT"? If I reply to one, I reply to both because your content is your message. What you should have said was grammar. Read a book. And the next time you wanna get all whiny about what people have to say about your senseless comments, make sure you know what the hell you're talking about.
***. How's that for grammer?

THANX FOR AGREEING!! BUT AS LONG AS MY POINT GETS ACROSS I DONT THINK THE SLANG REALLY MATTERS! ! IF IT THROWS PPL OFF THATS NOT MY PROBLEM. THEY DONT GOTTA READ MY SHIT! AND NEITHER DO YOU!!!

I do. And if you're competing for the scholarship, which it appears you are, you would do well to heed our advice. People won't read your content with the slang you use, so you won't get as many points for reads as someone that using proper grammar and spelling, and so you won't win. End of story.
Also, this is your first warning. Read the Terms of Use you agreed to when you signed up for the site. Use a dictionary if you don't know the meaning of all the words in there. Personal attacks are against those terms of use, and calling people 'bitch' and 'dumbass' are considered personal attacks. You have two more warnings before you are banned from the site.

I don't think it would matter much because that's like saying "ok, should teens be allowed to drive at 16 or should we wait until they become 21 to give them their liceneses?" because driving can also be as dangerous as drinking. Sure drinking at an early age is bad, but unfortunately, having this sort of law isn't going to do much. I have friends who are drinking right now, around my age (16-18ish). I think that as long as they drink at home and have some sort of supervision, it's not going to be a big of a deal.
YOU NKO WUHT???...THATS A GOOD POINT...I CANT AGRUE WIT THAT
Lower it. Countries that have a lower drinking age, have smaller amounts of drunk driving deaths than countries without a lower drinking age.
be honest: do you really think American teenagers are up to the challenge?
No.
How about you cite some sources with your 'facts'. Maybe then us level-headed and common sense-bearing of the population will listen to you.
How about you not act like a pretentious asshole?
Where is your data to back up your theory? And don't show me MADD statistics please. You want data from me, I want data from you.
Give me some time to find them, I haven't researched this in a year.
lmao. have you heard of DDAM? Drunk Drivers Against Mothers? lol, it's really not funny...but it is. you know how it is.
"How about you not act like a pretentious asshole?"
hahahhahahaha.
i love progressiveu!!!
lmao, that is hilarious. I had no idea there was such a thing.
I'm glad you liked the comment, lol.
You want another year?
I admit MADD stats are skewed to make their point, however there are plenty of other research groups that produce much better info which will more readily back my stance than yours.
So my challenege is this: bring it. Because science and common sense are on my side.
I'm looking for it and compiling it. I've yet to see your science and common sense that claims to be on your side.
I agree with you. But at teh same time, I wonder what if it was lowered? It might take the fun out of getting f\drunk illegally and thus kids do it less often, and find better ways to spend their time.
That is not way to look at it. If alcohol is readily available, these kids, in all their misguided glory, will consume till they drop or even die. For you to even suggest that is just insane judgement on your part.
Alcohol is readily available in Europe. It's integrated into their culture, and you don't hear too much about kids dying from alcohol poisoning, do you?

"...integrated into their culture." This means that they don't go on rambunctious drinking sprees. They show control. American kids, on the other hand, don't seem to have that ability. They see liquor and consume, much as they do food and the proof of that is ever-present. But since our culture is a grab-happy frenzy, American kids need to create limitations for themselves that European kids don't.

We can't integrate it into our culture when we strictly control it.
Can we really blame the kids for that though?
Kids in the United States grow up in a world where dependency on a substance, and overuse of that substance, isn't just the "norm" - it's encouraged.
Parents often depend on their coffee; headache medicine (or any other type of medication) is constantly advertised and taken or used for every little thing; they also watch their parents smoke, or take something to stop smoking, or have a drink or two to unwind (and that's if they're lucky enough to not have actual addicts as parents); not to mention the high number of people addicted to energy drinks, sodas, or energy pills.

I think 18 is a great age for everything. If we can fight, & risk death, for our country we should be able to have an alcoholic beverage when we please. I'm not referring to the fact that military persons can get alcohol, I'm comparing the actions. Also, in other countries drinking related accidents aren't as big as a problem because they aren't as stingy with the restriction.
just a thought...
I agree with you. I think 18 is the perfect age. You can smoke, drink, get drafted, leave high school. It's basically the most monumentous age.
How many of the people here who think it should be lowered are 19 or younger?
How many of you have kids of your own?
How many of you have a younger brother or sister that you would allow to drink and drive, knowing the risks and consequences?
Or worse yet, would allow them to be subjected to rape because of their drunkeness? And not just a simple "I said, 'No'," rape. But a one-guy-after-another type gang rape, with the kid being helpless due to inebriation, as well as guy after guy having his way with them.
You people have GOT to have better sense than this.
I'm 17. I've gotten drunk. Never drive because I know that I shouldn't drink and drive, so I don't.. It's called common sense, the thing you are adament about and which adults can't seem to use. Hell, I used common sense better than most adults I know.
Don't have kids.
I'd let my younger brother drink when he's 18.
First let's look at this, because you don't seem to understand the point I was making. Ok, people and studies show that drunk driving deaths are lower in countries where the drinking age is 18. Now you keep acting like we all drink and drive. Every person I know who drink who is under 21, never drives drunk, we just crash(ie stay the night, sleep.) at the person's house we're at. We use common sense, you just seem to think that anyone under 21 is a moron it seems.
The problem is so common that I can generalize. I didn't call out you, your friends, or anyone else in particular. However, because not all illegal drinkers follow the same "safer" drinking steps you and your friends observe, I can say with confidence that anyone under the legal drinking age shouldn't drink.
Did I do it?
Sure.
Was it always the smartest thing?
No.
Did I play it safe by staying over, not riding with people who'd been drinking, etc.?
Yes.
But the fact of the matter is American kids, for the most part, are not smart drinkers and should not be entitled to the responsibilty of drinking alcohol before they're 21. They are reckless, over-consuming, CHILDREN, who may wind up getting themselves, and maybe you, me, or someone else, seriously injured or worse.
Or, nothing could happen and this is just a pointless rant.
Either way, American kids should not, and probably won't for years to come, be legally allowed to drink. Plain and simple.
"I detest what you write, but I would give my life to make it possible for you to continue to write." - Voltaire
Most of my friends in high school got drunk. Several times. None of them were stupid enough to drive as well.
How many ADULTS (over 21) get DUIs and in accidents? Make the drug legal, and you won't have as many problems with abuse, plain and simple. TEACH them to be smart drinkers, instead of saying stupid things like 'you're just a child and can't drink smartly' so that when they DO turn 21 (if they wait that long), they go out and make stupid decisions because no one taught them otherwise.

First off, alcohol is legal. Prohibition ended in 1933 with the ratification of the 21st Amendment.
Secondly, tobacco is another commonly used legal drug. There are many pack-a-day smokers in our country and if that's not drug abuse, I must not know what is.
Third, teaching someone to be smart about things isn't always foolproof. How many people do you know who graduated from the D.A.R.E. program and still did drugs? Granted, D.A.R.E. is not nearly what it's supposed to be, it does, however, teach kids about the dangers of drugs, drug abuse, and addiction.
I know it seems as though I'm coming down hard on kids, but they're supposed to be the future. Their actions now shape who they'll be when they are 'responsible' American adults. Can we really afford another George W. Bush?
"I detest what you write, but I would give my life to make it possible for you to continue to write." - Voltaire
Anyone who over-consumes alcohol and drives. is a child to me. Including people over 21. But I don't blame kids, I blame the adults for pushing over-consumption in the media and acting like it's ok.
So are you saying that men over twenty-one don't commit rape?
I didn't mention age at all in regards to rape. The point I was trying to make was that people get taken advantage of when they're drunk. Age does not increase your ability to fight off things when you're intoxicated.
