This story has raised such a debate within myself that I thought I would delegate some of the tensions off by bringing it to the attention of others.
Christy Freeman was being investigated at her home after charges were brought against her for the murder of her newborn child. According to reports, her boyfriend of 21 years Raymond Godman JR found her lying in the bathroom bleeding heavily with a garbage bag and towels under her and carried her to the sofa.
Initially, Freeman denied being pregnant, but after a placenta and a piece of an umbilical cord were discovered, she told police that "she had delivered a dead and deformed baby", claiming that she saw no hands or feet and that she had flushed the dead baby down the toilet.
The police got a search warrnat; and in their search they did not find a still-born baby in Freeman's pipes and sewage system (or wherever a toilet drains to). Instead, they found the infant wrapped in a towel in the cabinet below the sink, the remains of two more (and a placenta) in a trunk in the bedroom, and a plastic bag holding the fourth corpse inside the motor home.
According to the Medical Examiner's preliminary report, the baby that police were initially looking for was a 26 week old fetus who was, in fact, still born but was not deformed and was viable. The remains of the other three also appear to be fetuses.
So the question now is, did Freeman do something to abort the pregnancy? She claims that she did not know she was pregnant; but then why not say that in the first place instead of waiting for the placenta to be discovered?
According to the law in Maryland, a person can be charged with murder for aborting viable fetuses older than 20 weeks (about 4 months). However, most prosecutors don't press charges unless the fetus is older than 30 weeks (about 7 months).
The cause of death for the stillborn boy is still under investigation. Police appear to believe that Freeman forced herself to abort the pregnancy. Freeman contends that she did not know she was pregnant, and at 5'8" 180 pounds some believe that this is possible.
I guess I would have an easier time believing Freeman if there hadn't been remains of three other newborns hidden in and around her home; or if the baby that initially started the search had been found flushed down the toilet as she claimed rather than wrapped up and placed in the vanity under bathroom sink.
And the woman does have four children, other than these four remains, who are currently staying in their father's, her boyfriend's custody. So I can't really believe that she's not ready for children or has no experience with children. Counting the remains of the four dead fetuses, Freeman has given birth to at least eight children.
I'm wondering if she will use the "abortion is legal" defense in this case and try to be cleared of all charges; and I'm also wondering if she will try to plea "temporary insanity" for these four deaths.
But the woman had the remains of four babies hidden carefully around her home, does that seem temporarily insane to you? It seems more planned to me.
No word yet as to whether or not the boyfriend will also be brought up on charges or if he even knew about the bodies at all.

Hi,
Thank you for bringing this up to our intention, since not all of us have enough time to see the news or read the newspaper. Anyway, it is really sad to hear this, I am having a hard time believeing that a mother can kil her children, I mean if she is not ready to have children then she shouldn't have children it's that easy, she just can decide to end a life of a new born baby, that's just horrifying.
Thanks,
Noor

This woman obviously has serious issues and shouldn't be breeding.
As for the pleading ignorance of a pregnancy - I don't believe it for a second. Girl, you notice when you don't have to go out and buy tampons for five months!
I have serious doubts about her not knowing she was pregnant, but it is possible. My mom had regular cycles until she was 5 months pregnant with my older sister. When she did finally miss her period, she was amazed to find out that she was 5 months pregnant and not one or two.

My sister picked up a book not long ago about a similar case; Sleep In Heavenly Peace by M. William Phelps. A man bought the contents of a storage building at an auction and upon going through them, discovered the remains of babies. Apparently, the mother had delivered these children and then carried them around in boxes with her as she moved from place to place for 25 years.

So these fetuses around the house are presumably hers. I can't imagine people giving her fetuses to hold onto. That means that the oldest is at least 4 years old just hanging in a plastic bag for four years. That's a pretty strange trophy to keep around.
Most people would at least dispose of the bodies, bury them in the back yard, something.
Also, 5'8", 180 lbs isn't so huge that you wouldn't notice a pregnancy, especially at 26 weeks. In fact I am pretty sure that you would still be having regular periods at that weight when you weren't getting pregnant, denying it and saving the corpses in ziploc bags. Perhaps I don't have a good grasp on what 180lbs looks like, since it seems like the boyfriend didn't notice.
Can a woman force herself to miscarry? Is that even possible? Maybe she just isn't healthy enough to carry to term. She obviously isn't bright enough to come up with any kind of defense. I don't see any way for her to get off completely, especially with bodies carefully hidden all around the property.

Can a woman force herself to miscarry? Is that even possible? It was the fact that many women were doing things to abort a pregnancy, leaving themselves scarred, hurt badly, or in some cases dead, that initially brought people to look at whether or not to make abortion procedures legal.
I've heard stories about knives, wire whisks, and wire clothes hangers that girls and women used to use to perform these abortions on themselves, none of them sounded safe in the least bit.
As far as being able to carry to term, she has four living children, so I presume she is healthy enough to carry to term.

Think of the smell. 4 years of rotting fetus flesh? I think I'll pass on that aroma.

Never mind 'temporarily', that sounds permanently insane to me.
