So a couple of weeks ago my roommate and I watched the ABC special Bob Woodruff To Iraq and Back. If you don't know the story Bob Woodruff was hurt when a roadside bomb went off next to the tank he was riding in. He was sent to Germany to recover from brain trauma. The special showed his remarkable recovery. It also showed how the Vets Hospital here at home is lacking. He talked to other Vets with brain trauma and they were having a hard time because when they got home very few at the hospitals knew how to deal with brain trauma. It really shed light on errors in the health care system of the people who get hurt serving our country.
A couple days ago I was waiting around before class and I saw the USA Today news paper that had a headline similiar to this subject. I'm sorry I didn't keep the paper and I can't find the article online but basically it said that the government is looking into our health care systems for Veterans with brain trauma.
I would just like to point out another case. The My Lai massacre that I talked about in another post, was covered up for a year before someone finally broke it to the media. Then and only then was an investigation done into the massacre and charges brought forth.
So did the government do something just because its flaws were on national t.v? Does that mean to get anything done in this country we have to be in the National Media?
What do you think?
Jenna
