I can't quite wrap my mind around why conservatives won't embrace Senator McCain. I am extremely conservative, and yes, there are a few issues that i disagree with him on. Mostly immigration, but come on. There are more important things. Every time you oppose him, you support the democrats whether you like it or not. I dont care if James Dobson is endorsing him or not; i dont care that Ann Coulter has diarrhea of the mouth, he is infinitely more conservative than Obama or Clinton. And i'm sorry to break it to you, but Mike Huckabee is not going to pull it off.
If nothing else, do it for the good of the party. If Mitt Romney can give up his presidential bid to keep the party unified, then surely you can bring yourself to walk into the polls and vote for the John McCain.
He actually is not that liberal. He opposes abortion, opposes gay marriage, supports the war more than anyone else i can think of, supports the death penalty, and is a fiscal conservative. I wish he would tie himself the to GOP a little more closely, but he still stands for the same issues.
So give up the petty things, and focus on national security and taxes. There is no one moer qualified to lead our armed forces. And whether you wanted him to be your party's nominee or not, he is, so stop splitting hairs, and keep the Dems out of the oval office.
Ignorant Conservatives

I find it alarming that we push others to support a candidate merely to "keep the party unified." I'd much rather see someone vote for an individual because he or she believes that individual is the best candidate, not because the party demands it. Voting because one belongs to a specific party is not voting smart and causes people to drift further away from the party. When one begins to feel that one is only a good Republican or Democrat because one supports those candidates simply because they are a member of the party, disillusionment and apathy are given root.

I was actually thinking as I was reading this, "Sure, I say I am democratic, but if there was a canidate that I believed in, I would probably vote for them."
I find it difficult to determine exactly how others ditinguish their party affiliation. How are you 100% in favor of any one topic??
Wait, I think I missed something.
Why is it so important to be conservative?
Why is being liberal so bad?
Well generally, a conservative party wants a conservative candidate...
