"It's George Bush Stupid"
Or you could say
"it's the Evangellyfishes Stupid" or "It's the evangelical's stupid"
This is pointed out in the new book:

George W Bush is the politician in recent years who has benefited the most from the Evangelical Vote.
This goes back to comments he made in 1988 to Doug Wead a well known evangelical and author.

“I tried to read to him from the Bible, because by that time he was sending me these signals,” Wead told me. “But he wasn’t interested. He just rolled over and went to sleep.”
Wead said Bush resisted religious overtures as firmly as sexual ones. “He has absolutely zero interest in anything theological – nothing,” Wead said. “We spent hours talking about sex . . . who on the campaign was doing what to whom – but nothing about God. And I tried many, many times.”
Wead also recalls the son’s expressions of his own political interest. The campaign had prepared state-by-state analysis of the electorate. “When he got the one on Texas, his eyes just bugged out,” Wead remembered. He recalled that Bush said: “This is just great! I can become governor of Texas just with the evangelical vote.”

Mitt Romney will not be the next president of the United States of America because he cannot get "The Evangelical Vote"
In fact the Southern Baptist Convention's position is that the writings of Joseph Smith are Not Christian.
Maybe True or Maybe not. That is how many evangelicals feel about Mormonism. In fact many a Southern Baptist Minister calls on their flock to renounce Mormonism.
Now Governor Romney took time off to go to the head of the THE MORMON CHURCH Funeral for "Gordon B Hinckley."
During that Funeral Sheppard Smith of Fox News asked his reporter about the funeral and that he was told The Service was broadcast around the world in 69 languages.It was also stated that the Church of Latter Day Saints gets extremely upset if you ask if they are a cult. Generally Evangelicals are the main ones to call Mormonism a cult. Mormonism runs against evangelical theology. Sorry Mr. Romney, you may get a chance in 2012 or 2016 because it is the evangelicals who still have a voting block. Some call this fair. Others say it is unfair.
OK Mitt maybe flip flopping had a little to do with it as well.
