5 Statements Made by Radio Personalities Who Have Not Been Fired
(http://eastvillageidiot.com/2007/04/12/5-things-said-by-radio-personalities-that-did-not-become-top-stories-on-the-national-news/)
“Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?” - Rush Limbaugh, host of a radio program syndicated on nearly 600 radio stations nationwide
“Many, many, many of the poor in New Orleans are in that condition. They weren’t going to leave no matter what you did. They were drug-addicted. They weren’t going to get turned off from their source. They were thugs, whatever.” - Bill O’Reilly, host of a radio program syndicated on over 400 radio stations nationwide
“A woman not only who was distasteful physically, but is distasteful mentally. […] This hag, this hack, this brisket maker has the audacity to say that we should be having a dialogue with the Hitler of our time — coming from that hag who happens to be Jewish is a triple disgrace.” - Michael Savage (on former Secretary of State Madeline Albright), host of a radio program syndicated on 400 radio stations nationwide
“She looks like a ghetto slut. It’s just — it’s hideous. No, it’s not braided. It just flies away from her head in every conceivable direction. It looks like an explosion in a Brillo pad factory. It’s just hideous.” - Neil Boortz (on U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney), host of a radio program syndicated on over 300 radio stations nationwide
“I didn’t think I could hate [Hurricane Katrina] victims faster than the 9/11 victims.” - Glenn Beck, host of a CNN Headline News television program and a radio program syndicated on over 250 radio stations nationwide

So, we're all in an uproar, apparently, about what Imus did. But he is far from the only person to make any kind of horrible or controversial remark, is he not? So are people hypocrites for not pushing to fire any of these radio personalities for their statements?
Or was Imus' statement that much worse because it had to do with Basketball?
I'm not saying that Imus had any right to say what he said; nor do I think that saying things over the air should go unpunished. But I think Sharpton's crew has more important fights to fight than worrying about what Imus, who is only heard on 90 stations nationwide, has to say about basketball.
Nothing good ever comes out of talking about Basketball, anyway.

I agree. He shouldn't have said it... but people say stupid crap every day. Do we get all bent out of shape when they say it? Looking at the quotes you posted by people that are still on the air, I'd say we only get pissed when it's certain people or certain things; forget that three of those aforementioned quotes insulted African Americans or poor people in a much a way much more disgusting than Imus's ignorant comment and on a much larger scale.

"It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err." -Gandhi
that's what i have to say to all of those comments...
that is a damn mess. that is all i have to say
