What is wrong with society nowadays? We have banned prayer in schools, made the drinking age higher, allowed video games to go EVERYWHERE, and now we are banning tag and other games like it at recess! I really don't see why something like this would happen. There really isn't any good reason to ban tag. It is a kid's game and can be a good release of energy. Yes injuries can happen but we as a society are babying the children TOO MUCH! Kids these days cry about everything and really need to learn that stuff is going to happen to them. That's life. Get back up and keep going. I don't know if I am just venting or what but if anyone has any comments, please put in your imput. Thanks and God Bless.

I agree with what you are saying. Society does baby children, in most cases. Sometimes, I think my parents had it right - let him go out and hurt himself. Sure, that increased our medical bills at the ER, but hey, it was fun and HEATHLY.
First, they destroy the food pyramid, then eliminate Physical Education program in some schools, and now this! Why are they complining about child obesity, if they will not let they run around?!? Enough typing at this computer...I need to run, oh wait, I am at school. Is that banned too?
Hm. I hadn't heard about the banning of tag or the upping of the drinking age myself, but I have heard that many schools have wanted/want to get rid of recess entirely. That is something which disturbs me greatly, and it is a fine example of a double standard. They want to sell as many health foods and drinks as possible at school, want to encourage young people to be mindful of what they eat and make sure they exercise, and yet they won't even give kids the opportunity to exercise in their own way? It's ridiculous and makes no sense whatsoever.
I also agree on the babying children thing. I believe a lot of children are quite spoiled in this country. It always shocks me to see two girls about ten years old walking in the mall by themselves with their name brand purses and camera cell phones. One of the greatest things a parent can do for his children is to teach them about what life's really about. Kids need some degree of discipline, at least some small taste of reality. They're often so softened that they become helpless, dependent whiners, and that's not something the world needs.

"Freedom of press is limited to those who own one."
"Every decent man is ashamed of the government he lives under."

when i referred to the age of drinking, i meant years ago when they changed the law to 21 instead of 18. Our schools claim to have healthy meals, but I know in my school, not much was actually healthy for you to eat no matter what you tried to do. There were always unhealthy choices for us for lunch and we as a society wonder why children are getting more obese?
