Vicodin

The addiction to the pain reliever vicodin is a big problem in society today. People abuse this drug in ways that can be very dangerous. Vicodin is supposed to be used for severe injuries or for people that have crazy pain after surgery. Today kids pop pills just to feel the high and the numbness in your body. People  these days are also mixing vicodin with drinking and marijuana, not thinking of the consequences that could result from it. I know some kids that would pay as much as twenty dollors for two pills of vicodin. Some will just take the pills straight and some would crush it up and smoke it. I have even heard of teeneage kids snorting pain relievers. I think it is kind of disrespectful to the people that really do need it. I don't know if this problem with abusing vicodin is totally the peoples' fault, however. I think that it is too accesable. You can go to the doctors and tell them you have horrible back pains and they will give you a perscription which you can renew whenever you want. Then what people start doing is taking as much as they want, and then sell the rest. Its like a little drug dealing business that people think is nothing but really is just as severe as dealing weed and other narcotics. You can overdose on vicodin easily too because most people dont know that you need to eat and drink fluids when you take it. Some folks take pills when they come home from a hard day of work, and then drink beer with it. This can mess with your body and impair your judgement even more than just being drunk. I think this is a problem that needs to somehow be regulated because right now it might not be that serious, but in the future can turn into deaths and other serious problems. While binge drinking can be related to this because you can abuse alcohol just the same, pain relievers are not taken as seriously. If you hear of someone pounding a bottle of vodka, you will think "wow that person is messed up he needs help especially if he is underage," If you hear of someone taking vicodin just to take it, you will think nothing of it for many reasons but one main reason is because you do not have to be a certain age to take it.
