We have engaged in this site, many for months or years in some cases, with the theoretical expectation of making a difference, of generating meaningful dialogue.
I'm not sure how successful that's been, but the experience has certainly been eye-opening. "The importance of being kfed," "My mother's daughter" and other posts I've written are some of the most honest pieces I've written, ever.Â
We have a responsibility, us bloggers out there, to embrace the technology available to us in a meaningful way. To make these gadgets and gizmos do something to promote positive change in our world. Everyone contributes in a unique way, and whether your way is protesting or my way is writing or knocking on doors or calling centers, we're all working toward something.
A friend of mine's mother objects to the phrase "life is a journey, not a destination" and aside from the semantic fact that life can't be a destination, it makes sense that there are different opinions about this sort of thing. That's what makes us human, what makes us unique.Â
Even if we're wrong, someone has to be in order for someone else to realize they're right.Â
I'm guessing my participation on this site will diminish significantly within the next few days, but feel free to keep up with me on Old Lady Syndrome.
Good luck, bloggers, and farewell!
Farewell, of sorts

Great blog. . .YOu have probably heard this, "computers and dumb machines but it is humans who make them smart". I too have felt like I have written honestly here and have progressed as a person because now I have an outlet when I am upset because writing and receiving comments just soothes my soul (i dunno why).
I know what you mean. Everyone finds their own outlet, one way or another. Mine, and yours, apparently, is blogging. And that's great.
Hi,
First of all, I want to say how much I have enjoyed reading your blogs over some time now. You probably hear this constantly, but your talent for writing is apparent in every cadence.
Your blog, "my mother's daugter" really struck a tone with me. In a way it inspired me to try and rebuild all of the bridges that I've burned with her over the years. Our relationship is so strikingly similar to what you described, and also to what some of the comments describe. I too have grown to be shocking similar to my parents (Gasp!), though I rarely admit it in public. :)
Good writing and real honesty are hard to find--much less all wrapped up in one beautiful, blog package. Thanks for showing us all the "importance of being kfed." :)

Your encouraging comments mean a great deal to me.
I have worked in many fields, including several areas of the theater, politics, student groups, and dance, and none has given me the kind of satisfaction I gain from writing, especially for a responsive audience like you guys here at ProgressiveU. I always enjoy what I do, but there's something deeply more therapeutic for me about writing.
I'm not leaving the Internet entirely, just concentrating my efforts into my other blog, oldladysyndrome.blogspot.com, whose focus will be a combination of what I did here and what I currently do there. Come fall, you may even see me over at my school newspaper's blog, The Daily Clog.
Thanks again,
Krista
The worst part about the end of contest season is that a lot of the good bloggers disappear! I hope you will be coming back to us whether you win or lose, dear.
