Universal Image of George Washington Incorrect?

Can you describe what the first President of the United States, George Washington, looked like?  According to AOL News, scientists have done some reconstructions to see what George Washington looked like and found that the image everyone knows as the founder of our country might not be what he actually looked like.  Scientists believe that the painters that painted the portraits of him are not accurate.  The images that they have reconstructed will be put on display at Mount Vernon, George Washington's home.  The site goes on to ask which images of Washington we should trust, the ones that the scientists have reconstructed or the ones that the painters made during his lifetime?

To me, the wax models look pretty similar to what I pictures I have always seen of him. The only real big difference is that the portraits we see always have him in a powdered wig.

Hey i heard about this on the news, and was kind of surpried and a little disbelieving that people who live today and have never met Washington can say they know more about what he looked like than a painter who saw him right beyond his canvas when they were both living. Those scientists are a bit over confident, if you ask me.

I know. I don't see why they think they are more accurate.
