Being born and raised in Southern California I have been exposed to alot of things. I've seen things that make me think, that make me wonder, and sometimes things that make me angry to be an American, but when I travel to the Philppines and see SO little progress with the country I start to think maybe the Philippines should step up and DO SOMETHING. Im an American Filipina and proud to say that I am...most of the time. I mean looking at the country that I consider my second home away from home you would think that I loved every aspect of the country but thats not always the case. The Philippines is to me and probably the world considered a third world country...AGAIN. I mean before things were acutally shaping up,but here the president is talking about progress and things that are changing withing the various cities...it makes me think SHE HAS NO IDEA WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT!The government there are just a bunch of people using the country's money to help them get up on top. How is progress going to be made if you have a government so greedy? There are so many things wrong with the country I just dont know where to begin! There are children on the street SELLING things just to make enough to eat that night, they stop going to school because they cant afford enrollment fees. That's where I will start....EDUCATION! A few of my aunts and a couple of my cousins living back home in the Philippines are teachers, I have personally visited these schools and you would think that they would be just like the ones here? NO WAY! There are not enough desks for the students in their class room! There are 60 kids in ONE class room to ONE TEACHER. Not only that but there are barely enough books for THREE students to share together! Tuition is so expensive, no wonder there are students dropping out..not that its too hard its just they do not have the means to pay for everything. Students there unlike here are not able to get a job and go to school at the same time, the minimum requirement to work at McDonalds over there is a COLLEGE GRADUATE! Imagine! I know working requires skills but honestly pressing buttons on a register are not that difficult...plus I've been to the McD's there and the people working there do not even seem like they graduated from HIGHSCHOOL let alone a college. While were now on the subject of working I find it ridiculous that they have a MAXIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT! Yes, its true, don't deny it the Philippines has a maximum age requirement! My mother's friend had to MOVE OUT OF THE COUNTRY just to find a job in China because the job she applied for litterally said she was too old for the job! The job you ask? Sales Associate! Yes, ridiculous I know. I wonder if the president knows this?On the television there are job placement opportunities for those looking for a job. I was watching it noticing one that really caught my eye it said and I quote " Wanted Registered Nurse College Graduate Height:5"4 and taller Age:18-27 pls call......."Since when did having a job need a certain height requirement?!?!?!Shouldnt it be based on the skills of the individual?NOT on the genetic inheritance such as height?! There is no such thing as minimum wage in the Philippines! They do not get paid by the hour...no they get paid by the day! Imagine! No wonder all the sale associates and practically EVERYONE has a bad attitude with working! They only get paid beans compared to what we make! I would seriously be mad too if I worked so hard just to earn 200 pesos (equivilant to 5 dollars!)The Philippines is way behind in job progress.Gang rate is at an all time high! I mean kids as young as five are throwing up gang signs! Why? Well since the governement is not doing anything for them they take it from other individuals who are barely supporting themselves as it is. This type of situation is dangergous I mean just because Gloria doesnt live in the barios or provinces that gangs reside in, since she in comfortably living the life of luxuary lying to the people of the country, does not mean its not happening! I have so much to say about this but i have to go this will be Part One
