Can You Hang On? I Need To Go Put My Mask On

Let's face it... there's always going to be someone who thinks we need to change. To that person, or people, we will never be good enough. Good... I don't want to be.

Honestly, there's no such thing as being perfect. There are so many girls who put makeup on in the morning and throw on their designer jacket and matching designer purse, hoping it will get people to accept them. Yeah, except them for something their not. What about the people who get plastic surgery? Whatever happened to being content with who you are and what you were given?

Our society has gone mad. Cosmetics cover the faces of practically every female. People are going broke because they want to buy the designer brand jeans instead of the five dollar ones at the second hand store. For crying out loud, we have people paying a hundred dollars for clothes that have holes in them! There is something extremely wrong with this picture. It has gotten to the point of where we classify people by the brand they wear. So you volunteer everyday at the local homeless shelter but you don't wear Coach? Sorry, you can't be in our group... it's designer only.

Seriously! What is wrong with people? Who cares what clothes you wear as long as you have something on you. We have all fallen prey to materialism. There is so much more out there that we should be focusing on. I admit that I fall in the same hole as everyone else. Man, I feel selfish.

There may be some of those girls in America's society today, but not everyone is like that. Sometimes makeup helps make someone look even better. I personally don't wear makeup but that is my choice. Often times girls in middle schools are the ones that try to conform to society, and often it takes them getting to high school to see that they want to be themselves, and they start to branch out and wear what they want, most of the time. You still may get some comments about what you wear, but that occurs in the real world also.

True, being judged on the type of clothes you wear to be apart of a group is stupid, but when you go for an interview, the employer will be looking at your clothes and making a first impression of you. Sometimes you need to conform and other times you need to be yourself, it just depends on the time and place.

I admit it, I am guilt of buying name brand clothes, but I am not above buying them second hand. The funny thing is, I get a lot of compliments on the name brand clothes I wear and never any on the less expensive clothes. To be honest, I just feel good when people compliment me on my outfits.

I saw $600 shoes at a fancy store and I couldn't stop cracking jokes. I guess I'm more of a practical, non girly girl who doesn't care for the latest fashions or even any fashion at all. To some people, fashion is a 24 hr pursuit.
