Did you ever doubt it??

What a teaser for a headline… what in the world do you mean “did you ever doubt it?” Of course I’ve doubted, many times in the past, and I’m certain to have many more in the future. Even so, this is in regards to one specific item… a main difference between the sexes. In continuing, I must provide some background… I’m middle aged, married to the most wonderful women I’ve ever met for over 20 years, have three wonderful children and am very satisfied with my life (wish I’d done something in the past differently, but that’s an entirely different post…). That being said, I must talk to the males of this world concerning a subject that may be near and dear to many women… shopping. Wow… I heard the dull road of the crowd on that one…

It is interesting to see the differences between how the sexes shop today. Go to your nearest mall and take a few minutes to look around in what-ever store, or hallway you happen to be in. Although I won’t claim that the majority of people you see are women, I’m guessing that if you happen to look to those comfy chairs set up in the middle of the mall, you may notice that the majority of those sitting are male! They are just like me. I realized something long ago, that although I love my wife dearly, I do not want to go shopping with her.

My scenario… I need something, I enter a store that I ‘think’ has what I need. If they have it, and it is REASONABLY priced, I buy it and go home… end of story! I state reasonably because if I was looking for a pair of shoes, and go to a shoe store, I’m not going to pay an exorbitant amount for a pair of shoes….(i.e. sneakers for >= $100.00)

Her scenario… I need something, I enter a store that I ‘think’ has what I need. If they have it, and it is REASONABLY priced, I remember where it is and go to another store. Repeat the previous steps, again, again, and maybe even… again. Then… go back to the first store and buy the item I originally saw a couple of hours previously.

And there are best selling books written about how men are from Mars and women from Venus? (I wonder who actually buys them) Why in this world do I need to have someone else tell me what I can see with my own eyes, feel with my two tired feet, and watch from that exceptionally comfy chair the mall so conveniently placed there for my comfort!

Oh…hey dear?... can you wake me up when you’re done shopping please? Thanks babe… Love you too.

While I agree completely that the two sexes are different, I'm not sure shopping is the best example. I, for example, hate almost every form of shopping and will do almost anything within my power to get it over with as quickly as possible. My boyfriend, au contraire, could spend about three hours trying on clothes and working out what he wants to get.

K.Roe,

I would first like to reiterate that this is in no way a scientific study... only a biased opinion based on my experience alone. That being said.... yeah, I too know both sexes that certainly have the ability to take their (sweet) time in many of their endevours.

I'm not a crazy shopper. I probably shop like a guy, and I can hardly stand clothing stores. The monotony drives me mad.
