Necessary for revolution.
We're not “Ready” for a revolution..?
It seems ridiculous, but that’s one of the many excuses poured forth.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic for our record voter turn-outs.
Pop culture and voting?
I can go with that, but then the point of view is skewed up all over again.
I don’t suppose things like “duty,” “responsibility,” or “making a difference” actually pop up in people’s minds.
For some, yeah. They’re the ones who would’ve voted whether it was the “new/popular” thing to do anyways.
42% of eligible Americans vote. The grand example, the dream of the world, the land of the illegal immigrant. So… why is Switzerland in the 90%s? Why are we more than 48% BEHIND a country that isn’t constantly out for “the greater good of the world”?
…sorry, I’m a little frustrated.
The attitude towards voting doesn’t seem to have changed at all.
More un/anti-informed individuals voting just so they can say they did.
But, I didn’t blog today to complain.
We need a revolution, pure and simple.
Not banging down the doors of people we don’t agree with- that’s called “stupidity.”
But we need a true social and political revolution.
How do you make people care?
From mouths across the country I hear apathy and complaints of white house corruption. But who let it get that way? And if you’re going to hide to hide behind your parents, just ask yourself “who decided how I’m going to live?”
If you don’t like it, CHANGE IT.
There’s so much whining and complaining, and not a drop of action.
• Devote yourself to change, or shut up. Those who are not willing to stand up and act have no right to complain.
• Educate yourself all around the clock. I’m relatively conservative, mostly reactionary, but have been known to get radical. Don’t pick a side and blind yourself to all others. Learn everything you can about an issue before you form an opinion. Ignorance is NOT bliss. It’s destruction
• Common sense. Passion is a wonderful thing, but if you’re all feeling and forget to look at an issue from a rational stand point and apply reality to it, you may make a problem worse or cut yourself short.
• Root for the common good. Think about EVERYONE. Not just yourself, not just your little group, but as many people as you can embrace. Then think: How much food are you willing to give from your table to strangers?
• It’s personal. Put yourself in their shoes- on both sides. This doesn’t mean to stay smack in the middle- more often than not, you’ll find that you’re on one side or another.
• Debate it out and ask questions. If you can talk about this issue with people wiser than you, or people you look up to, and defend every aspect of your point, you’re probably good. Often, agreements can be made when both parties are fully educated and well- rounded on a topic. If you honestly don’t know, ask! Ask definitions, opinions, most of it is useful. Interaction is the greatest learning tool.
• Don’t be afraid to be wrong. This is the hardest one. I’m still working on it. Stubbornly sticking up for a lost cause you just realized is totally wrong is NOT going to do any good.
If we don’t do something soon, we’ll be in chaos. Take action, but more importantly, take responsibility.
Writing and talking is nice, but remember that taking action is physical too. Lead by example; try smiling once in a while. Instead of yelling at others for doing nothing about the poor, go and volunteer at the nearest shelter or give up your good unused clothes to goodwill.
Isn’t it important?
Don’t we have to take responsibility?
Isn’t it just a little bit of payback for our freedoms?
We have to do something.

In Switzerland, if you skip a certain number of elections, you lose your right to vote.
I didn't know that. Thanks!
Do you think that that's a good idea?

I give my clothes to the goodwill, talk to my teachers and friends, occasionally distribute articles, start (and usually finish) class discussions and debates, and do my best to lead an honest and active life. I vote, I volunteer for Help the Homeless and PYLI, and I let people know that if they need anything that I have the ability to provide, I'll do my best to help them out. I tutor kids at my school, and I just recently joined the Army Reserves. I try my best to help people become more open minded and interested in the outside world.
Other than that, not much.
I wish I had more time, but school sucks up alot of it ;.;

But wait, if you're pointing out the dorkiness, doesn't that increase your dorkiness?

I'm a nerd...a non mathmatical nerd, so no I didn't know that.
I think we share a common ground on this subject. I think the people need to wake up and realize that they still can make a difference in their government and their nation. People dont realize that voting would help in so many ways, but they dont think about it that way. They cant seem to understand that hundreds of people have died so that our generations can have that freedom. A revolution is something we need now in this day and time. We need to join together and protest peacfully and boycott the systems. What ever happened to History Classes. Have people never heard of the 60's or the American Revolution? Keep your voice heard RedEyedRaven, because some day we may just Come Together.
