I have this one friend and all she ever does is talk to guys online. I don't really have a problem with that but she keeps dating them only for like 2 weeks. I don't get the point of dating someone online for 2 weeks and then just dumping them, especially when you never even meet them. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one out there who doesn't get why everyone is trying to hook up on the internet. Obviously a lot like to cyber and cam to cam but why don't they just go and get a relationship with someone near by, or just wait. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, but really what do you get out of an online relationship. I guess you get someone to talk to but that's about it. Don't get me wrong I talk to people online all the time, but dating someone? That just doesn't make sense to me. Its kind of different if you meet someone online and eventually fall in love with them and meet them, but dating just to say you are dating someone? I just find it too odd.

I totally agree. One of my friends did this for about three weeks and put up pictures of herself holding up papers that said "I love Carlos" or whoever it was. How can you love someone if you have never even met them or talked to them other than through IM and email?
I know! Plus how in the world do you even know if they are telling you the truth? They could be feeding your brain with lies and you could be devouring it not knowing that they are just messing with you!
How do you know you love someone versus just attracted to them physically? My boyfriend and I met online, talked for a couple months before we tried the dating thing, and then started dating online. We fell in love after about a month... we knew so much about each other and could spend hours a day talking. That's what a good relationship is based on... compatibility and communication, not physical attraction.

Yeah.. that's awesome. And I totally know what you mean.. I mean my mom and my stepdad met online and everything. But I'm talking about the people who like 2 seconds after meeting someone say Oh I love you so much lets go out. It just doesn't make any sense to me. That's is really awesome about you and your boyfriend by the way. :)
Well i personally do well in distant relationships. I have had quite a few and it was my best relationships. It made me feel more secure because its obviously not lust if you are not intimate. I'm against the cyber and stuff but i will cam to cam only to see them and nothing more. I wouldn't really say i love them because well yea...you dont meet them. I limit where they live too. I want to move to a certain state in about a year or two so i want to find someone in that area. But i deffiantly see your opinion. I get that alot too and i try to find some in my area but many times...that doesn't work out too well.
I guess it's probably appealing in the same way that talking shit to people online is appealing. You get to recreate yourself and not suffer any real consequences.
That's all I can guess. I agree with you. Online dating is a little....idk. Not so much lol.
Online is just not the same as being able to hold someone to feel the connection. I mean, forget the whole money part and gifts but just being there for your girl or guy can mean the world to him or her. The ability to be there next to the person and hold them and tell him or her that i am here for you through thick and thin means more than gift can ever speak....
Just my opinion....
Have a great day.
