how do you kill something that is not alive?

so apparently for amendment two, the scientist say that the embryos that they create are not babies, that they are not alive and they are just a "mass of cells"

I believe that everyone should think for themselves and make their own decisions, but before you start spouting your mouth, make sure you have all the facts and not just what you think you know. So before you vote read the fine print-

After the scientists are done using the 'mass of cells" they plan to kill it. WAIT kill it? i thought they just said that it wasnt alive. if it is alive and they are planning to kill it, then what is it? it has to be more than just a mass of cells for them to call it alive. Because the truth is, IT is a baby. an embryo, the beginning of life, something you once were.

Our generation is called 1/3 dead. that means that when your mom was pregnant with you, 1/3 of the other mothers had an abortion. think about it. did they kill your future best friend? your future spouse? the person you were made to be with? did they kill the next Einstein? the one person that was going to find a cure for cancer? or for AIDS?

They think that having embryonic research will solve the problems that they allowed be made since Roe vs. Wade was passed. but there are MILLIONS of usable stem cells that are in umbilical cords that are perfect to use for research and have already found cures for many things by using them. and usually the umbilical cords are thrown away. think about it.

 VOTE NO ON AMENDMENT 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

those "masses of cells" in an embryo form a heart, which then begins to beat, and it becomes a living thing.

but they dont have to be from an embryo. you dont have to create a baby, then turn it into whatever you want. you can do it from umbilical cords and hurt no one.

Here's the thing: cells are alive. Unless of course they aren't alive.
I'm thinking what they are saying is that the cells are alive but the individual is not. Or doesn't yet exist, at least. Meaning, when they are done with the "mass of cells" they will kill the cells, but not the individual, because there was no individual there to begin with.

um.... ya but when is it considered a baby? when the sperm enters the egg? when were you considered a baby?

well first off I would like to point out that stem cells and abortion are to different things, but slightly connected. when they say it isn't alive they are refering to that it is not human. which it sceintificaly isn't until further into the development of the embryo. but when you say that that there are millions of cells in the umbilical cord. that is true but those cells have started to lose there flexibilty. when a the embryo first starts out those cells can become anything. but the cells in the ambilical have been morphed. if you plan on using those it would almost be easier to go through an adult stem cell and wait for dediferentation. embryonic stem cell being used in practical science in mass to affect the comunity right now would be the largest grouth in medical research and effect on the community ever recorded in history. even a perfectly healthy person can benifit from stem cells. we also no more then 10,000 practical aplications of stem cells. and although 1/3 of mothers have an abortion. that would not effect stem cells. millions of embryos are throwen away because nobody can use them from invitro clinics, but they would work just fine for stem cell aplications. and if you don't know a large amount of embryos die naturaly before they even had a chance to live. on the second and third day after conception an embryo will start to grow precursers of cartalige and epiderdermic tissue forming the precurrser of the ambilical cord, but many times the cord doesn't even atach itself to the womb and it dies. many embryos do die naturaly and even more die from waste because they can't be used because the government won't let them. and so lets say that the embryo is a life though. then should we not use it. I don't know about you but if I was in an invitro clinic and was to be an unused embryo and going to be throwen out I would much rather be used for stem cells and save lives rather then die in vain, because the government won't let me save lives. by not letting us use stem cells you are only lowering the quality of life for billions and only killing millions more who could live if we could use stem cells. so I am sorry but the umbilical cords is overalll stupidity. we don't have any practical aplications for ambilical cord stem cells just as we don't for adult stem cells. that is why embryonic stem cells are needed. if you don't beileve me look some of the stuff up. just letting you in on some facts.
