Rogerian Argument

Have you heard about this argument before? A lot of teachers at Central New Mexico Community College do not teach this. There is one professor by the name of Kaz Dziamka who has been teaching it in his english classes since he stated to work for this community college.

The Rogerian Argument is a process of good listening. A good way to experience this argument is by sitting with a person who has strong views that you are against. Instead of conjuring up an argument to everything they have to say when they say it, just sit there and listen to every word and feeling it has. When all is said, repeat exactly what that person had to say until they agree thats what they were trying to express to you.
Then you say your things and they have to purely listen like you did and then they should repeat it back to you until you think they got your point.

From that point you will not feel so attacked and you can then decide what should be done of the subject that was being argued. It is a really neat thing to try.

You can do this with a loved one or just a person you like to debate with. It gives you the true opportunity to see and feel what the other person has to say.

There is more to this then what I have explained so please go ahead and do some research!

I think this is a good idea. It's too bad that so many people would get hot-headed or frustrated rather than giving this a real try.

I understand we are a people of debate but I think this would really help to understand why those people argue one point and disagree with the others point. I think if we were to use this technique that people would come to a full understanding and maybe perhaps realize that they agree with their opponent.

Wow. This could really change arguments if more people started doing this. I think it'd be a lot better than other arguments, not to mention everybody's point can be shared.
