it is getting to a point where most public schools need to hire more teachers - the point of school is acidemics im sorry to say this but if it is nessary start cutting things because of budget cuts then cut extracurriculars. They are nice but liek the name says EXTRAcurriculars. They are extra and not nessary for your highschool degree. Yse they look nice for colleges but not nessary.
Last year at my highschool me and a few other kids were doing poorly in our math class, and with complicated problems sometimes my parents didnt know the answer. My teacher was a part time teacher meaning she was only there one day after school for 1/2 hour. SO the solution was to go get help on that particular day which happned to coenside wiht my speech team parctise - but like i said before acidemics are more important than extracurriclar activites. I went to my math teacher - well so did every other kid in her three classes. The room was full 15-20 students how could she help us all - she couldnt. It was abonoxious the school couldnt help me at all. Being the kind of person i am, unable to fail, i found some friends who had previously takin that class and had them help me. Not everyone is out going enough to do that. And teachers should be there to help thier students. Budget cuts need to be used in the right places.
My old school district always thretens to uses budgets cuts where it will be noticed. For example thretening to take away early bird or football team or cheerleading where there are activities are used by a large percentage of the student body. Then the tax payers wind up not doing budget cuts - it is unfair. The schools should focus on keeping class sizes small and using budget cuts where they can actually be enforced. - Jennee
