Okay, so most of us have a good idea what progress means, and how we can influence it. We could spend some time volunteering. We could fight for a cause. We could write a petition, etc, etc. There are numerous things we can do.
Some of these things just aren't possible for busier individuals, or those who don't have places to volunteer at near their home. What can these people do to promote progress?
Maybe this is a silly pipedream, but I think some of the smallest changes in our daily routines can really help out. Here are a few of my own suggestions for little, tiny steps towards progress. Add a few if you can think of something.
Guys, don’t pee on public toilet seats. Girls, don’t pee on public toilet seats.
Pick up a piece of trash, even if it isn’t yours.
Use your turn signal.
Say “Bless you” to someone who sneezes. It’s not a declaration of faith, it’s just courteous.
If you get angry with what someone has to say, wait a second before you explode in anger. Believe it or not, this other person may have a point.
Hold the door open for the person behind you.
Offer a coupon you don’t want to another person in the store.
Stand up for yourself by learning the word “no” and all it’s applications.
Let the new kid--or the outcast--sit at your lunch table.
Don't be afraid to participate in class or to speak to a teacher afterwards if you're having trouble.
Speak kindly to people, even if you're having a bad day.
Maybe these don't seem to add up to much, but surely some of these steps could make life a little better for us all. After we accomplish a few of the small things, then maybe we can worry about world hunger and famine.

Rest in peace

If everyone in the country did one thing to make things better...what would happen?
Thank you! I feel like that's where progress starts... with the little things. Make changes in your daily life, and you might just make someone else's day, and start a nice domino effect. And, after all, we can't change the world without changing ourselves, first.
And that's comin' at ya' from yer local redneck hippie.

That domino effect...it's sorta like the plot of the movie Pay It Forward. The kid's idea of changing the world was to do nice things for people--all they had to do was promise they' d do the same for someone else. It's a nice concept.
