I am writing an essay for my English class and I am tackeling patriotism. Please be brutally honest with me! This is only my intro but I want to be sure I am on a good path. I also know it starts out to reflect my views on religion but I will be tying all of this together with my supporting ideas.
For this you will need the following ingredients: one child taken while still in the cradle, one mother, one priest and one set of beliefs. Combine as follows. Take a child whose brain in not yet developed and make him recite prayers each night like a parrot. Take the mother and have her tell him there is a heaven, a hell and a God. Beat until smooth. Next take a priest, have him tell the child mythical legends of giants and victors that happened thousands of years ago. Be sure to remove any lumps of doubt before moving to the next step. Shrink the child’s mind about any other beliefs to ensure the highest quality of Catholic. Bake at 375 degrees and let sit until cooled. To make dish of the patriotic persuasion, interject different belief systems and you have yourself a marvelous little tin soldier, ready to serve.
