I feel very un-adultish. Yeah I said it. I wish there was a hand book for everything - especially voting. It's the time of year guys - ELECTION TIME! W00t. Ok I'll stop. But in any case, something has been bugging my mind for a while now. I jut turned 18 a few months ago and I did every 18 year old should do...including smoking a cigarette, buy something without your parent's permission, look at a dirty magazine :), etc. So one day my mom gave me the registration form to vote. I registered and placed myself in the "undeclared" category. I didn't know whether I should be a Democrat or a Republican and all this stuff. I didn't know whether I should go for the rights of undocumented immigrants or abortion. Better yet, I don't know if I should go for Barack Obama or little Hillary Clinton. Sadly, I barely hear anything about the other presidential candidates so I don't even know who is running at the republican side. I feel very dumb just at the fact that I don't take the some spare time in my life and watch the news (although I think the media is hellah rigged and all I ever hear is bad stuff and nothing happy to announce). Instead, I just watch Stephen Collbert and John Stewart make fun of everything else around 'em or watch the grueling Moment of Truth. I can't help it. Other people around me are just as informed as I am. I have this kid in my class who Obama obsessed. He posts photoshoped pictures of Clinton's head on a dragon or her face all warped out. But for some odd reason, I truly respect this kid's thoughts of Barack's points while cheering his name all over the school. It brings me to question of my patornism to the country. I know this country is in deep shiz in all aspects. In the end, I'll just be a robot to society never thinking for myself.

Hell, I'm almost 20 and I still don't really know who to vote for. Maybe this is the most idiotic way to go about it, but I search for little "Who should I vote for?" quizzes and fill out the questionnaire about my views on certain issues and then BAM! I get a page telling me who agrees with me and on what.
The downside is, if it's not Hillary, Barack or John McCain, it probably wont matter.
I do keep up with politics. I have quite a few good websites just to find out where the candidates stand on different issues and keep up with political news.
http://votesmart.org -- This one's great for any election. They list all Congresspeople.

You really should get as educated as possible. It seems like few people are willing to, and that makes me nervous. As far as parties go, I am uncommitted. I choose the person, not the party. Of course, it's more responsibility to learn about the candidates.

I was uncommitted for that very reason, but I did have to reregister with an affiliation to participate in my state's caucus.

I think most states do, but you can change with every primary. I know this time it'll be Democratic, just to get the Presidential primary vote in.
