Ever since Jena 6 began, more and more incidents involving hanging up a noose started to come forward. Is our country going backward to the times when African Americans were being executed? Do the people who hang nooses aware of the significance it holds?
There have been similar events like Jena 6 that we are not aware of before. If you search through google or yahoo, you'll be surprise how many of there are. Why are people still hanging up a noose? Is it supposed to be a prank? I think those people know exactly what they're doing. The noose is a symbol for race discrimination against black people. It started during the Civil War time when blacks were being hung for committing "crimes" such as stealing, killing, lying or even making fun of white people. And I bet most of them were blamed anyway.
So, does this mean we're moving backwards when it comes to racial discrimination? No, we're actually moving forward in my opinion. Sure, more and more nooses are found hanging around black community. Before this, there were probably occurrences regarding a noose before. People just didn't come out with their story. But we know more about it because people are beginning to report these affairs.
I don't think it's fair for people to assume that white people are behind the noose incidents. Perhaps kids from other racial backgrounds are trying to get black and white people to fight each other for their own amusement. Just a thought. It's like we're keeping on blaming each other. When is it going to end? At least if you have something to say, be brave about it. Stop being a chicken by going around hanging up nooses. It's pathetic.

I find it hard to believe people would find any sort of amusement in hanging nooses.
If nooses pop up here and there, I guess some people want to trigger something that will enable them to point a finger once conflicts start rising.
Meaning that if you kick an animal long enough, he will eventually bite anyone.
Some might want to create conflicts in order to have chaos were they already know who is going to pay for it.
They will only have to point a finger and say, look what they do, while they are the ones responsible for all of the hurt and the pain it has brought.
I guess it would be in the best interest of all, a black spokesman would step forward and speak out to all black people (especially youngsters) in order to explain the importance of not walking into emotions that carry anger, regardless of what is happening.
One needs to keep in mind that concerns around this are carried by white and black together, so solutions will follow, apart from some ignorant individuals, no one wants this!
Don’t bite!
I liked your post and agree. I believe that whom ever displays this arrogance and ignorance should just be ignored. Yes it brings up awful memories in our nations past for both African Americans and Caucasins. I think that we should just ignore this ignorence and see it for what it is ignorence.
This is summarily untrue.
There is no ignorance to be found here.
Ignorance describes a state of unknowing, implying a sense of innocence in light of an action or mistake. People know what a noose means, what it represents and despite what you think, there are no awful memories dredged up by white people at the sight of a noose.
Think about it logically; if any person walks up to a noose, there are two possible responses: A) Oh, it's a noose or B) Oh, there must be a black person around giggle giggle.
That said, you are either ignorant in your assumption or just plain blinded to the reality of the symbolism suggested here.
The smallest object dropped in water causes a wave, it’s better trying to understand why and what was dropped instead of trying to fight and stop that wave from passing by…
Youngsters need to be explained the importance of knowing what’s coming, in order for them to understand and allow themselves in letting this wave pass by and neglect it, no matter if this wave hits them hard or not!
Most youngsters think they know the feeling of hard, maybe, but elders black and white know already what it feels like and therefore are best in place to deal with this!
To question what can be done to prevent another wave to be created is upon white and black adults to be addressed in the right format, to the right authorities and by the right persons upon a platform of common sense and intelligence.
TALK to your KIDS and deal with it!
Thank you for your comment and understanding, much appreciated
"Do the people who hang nooses aware of the significance it holds?"
The noose itself holds absolutely no significance. People have simply "assigned" it a significance. If people would stop harping on this supposed "meaning" people would stop assocaiting the noose with discrimination. The noose was not created specifically for black people.
"The noose is a symbol for race discrimination against black people. It started during the Civil War time"
Um, no, it's not. Nooses are used as knots on ships. Nooses were also used for hangings in general. Even, yes, for the evil white man. A noose is a race specified as a piece of wood is.
"Stop being a chicken by going around hanging up nooses."
That's exactly what it is. They are cowards. But the fact that people come out and say, I'm really scared, a noose symbolizes hatred towards blacks" simply exacerbates the situation. When people stop assocaiting the noose with racism the noose will stop being used in fits of racism.
If you want the bully to stop teasing you, you don't respond to the teasing. People need to stop whinning and getting all up in arms about this. They are giving the racists the power.
People are cowards who hang nooses and people who let nooses and hate symbols scare them are cowards.

Remember everyone racism goes both ways.
