So what's the deal with sports?

Apparently, the cost of an edge in athletic events nowadays is 5 Olympic medals. Why would you put yourself in a position to lose all that you have spent your life trying to gain? Is winning really so important that nothing else, not even pride or dignity, is enough to motivate you? I know this seems like it'll be one of those"what-kind-of-example-are-you-setting-for-the-kids" type rant.

But it's not.

The kids are gonna make their choices, no matter what. The thing I'm getting at is how ridiculous it is that everyday there's a new doping scandal or cheating plot in sports. You can't make your way through the news without hearing about some athlete being involved in some crap that makes you want to never watch another sporting event in your life; Michael Vick and the dogs, Marion Jones and 'the clear', even the Tour de France isn't untainted!

All I'm saying is get your heads out of your asses. You weren't trained, drafted, signed (probably) for your doped up or 'roided out play, but for the talent and ability you possessed and utilized before you had the money for these treatments. Sure, in your line of work, winning is everything, but one meet, one game, one stage doesn't always dictate the overall outcome.
