In my little corner of the world Mother Nature has been suffering from Menopause. First she pissed off with the blizzard and ice, next day she is having heat flashes, before long the uber mood swings kick in for a wild day, and now she is bursting into tears. Unfortunately there is no way to get some hormone replacement pills to that woman.
Basically, the entire campus has been going on her emotional roller coaster ride as well. Frequently changing weather patterns tend to affect those being affected by it. So for the most part everyone is either depressed or upset or just generally unstable. Drinking in on the rise (and yes, I think there just might be a correlation) and everyone just wants Spring Break to hurry up.
Lately I have been taking a step back though. Call it an optimistic trend, but I feel the need to stop allowing myself to be aggravated and find the good in every situation. But, the moods around me have made that difficult. Hard to keep your own spirits up if everyone is bringing their own moods down. Still yet, I have done what I can and here is what I propose for all the progressive bloggers out there:
Have you ever stood outside being miserable in the snow wanting nothing more than for a nice hot beach? At that point have you ever paused to notice how beautiful snowflakes look as they quietly drift to the ground, blurring the buildings behind them? If you relax even more and really pay attention you can almost hear them giggle like children. Then suddenly you can be rushed with memories of that snowman you made with your parents back on a snow day in the 3rd grade and the sugar cookies you got to make later that day to warm up from the cold.
How about that dreary drizzle that chills you to the bones and messes up your hair and seems to penetrate every millimeter of your skin? If you take a moment to look at the puddles at your feet is it not amazing to notice that the drizzle does not even disturb the small puddles it has formed? It is invisible to the eye and yet changes the colors of every element on the earth. Trees, statues, and wood all become darker, but not all at once. They first go through a dalmatian stage where they have spots of different colors. Listen closely and they seem to sigh in joy of the drink of water they are receiving.
Beautiful days are so easy to appreciate because they are mild and steady. Nothing to complain about, but nothing really special to notice. It is those days that make us less than comfortable that can have some of the most beautiful, amazing, and miraculous sights. The saying is true: It is all in your mind set.
Think about it...

I remember some of the happiest times in my life, standing in the pouring rain with one of my closest friends waiting for our parent to pick us up from middle school. Everyone else was inside or already gone but me and that girl just stood out there and got wet. Oh gosh! I'm getting so emotional now! I gotta go and try to get happy again! I would stand outside right now but it's not raining, it's snowing and I'll freeze my... well... yeah it'll freeze off!
