So in my absence...(unfinished)

I've been away from this site for some time...though I'm not entirely sure why. In this time I've graduated from Highschool, registered for college and gotten myself a full time job. In doing so i've discovered a couple things.

The first and most surprising is I would rather work while I'm at work. I work for the technology department of a local school district(oddly enough the district of my highschool's rival), which is a dream job for an aspiring Computer science major right? Wrong. My job has no real direction. Hardly any purpose at all. I'm basically here to help anyone who asks. However most of the guys working here(and yes...except for the secretary they are all male) are very stuck up and assume I know nothing about computers and rarely ask for my help. When they do it is only for me to do their manual labor for them. Now i don't mind manual labor at all(considering I'm in much better shape than anyone here), but I'm asked to help so rarely that most of the time i have nothing to do. The first week was miserable, I spent basically 8 hours a day staring at a wall... The second week however I started bringing my laptop to work(in fact I'm at work right now). Of course I did the usual things at first, email, myspace, posting on forums and (now) blogging, but that path quickly ran out of options...so I turned to america's favorite pastime...World of Warcraft.

At first I felt kinda guilty about playing WoW on company time...and only did it occasionally...even when i had nothing better to do. But now I play it most of the time I'm here simply because I cannot find anything else to do. Here's where the surprise comes...I'm bored. I have found that i would rather spend my time here actually working than playing WoW...I don't quite understand it...but it may be because i usually play my fair share of WoW when i'm off work, and this extra time exceeds my natural tolerance for WoW. A year ago i would have laughed at this idea...but now I'm falling victim to it.

I also discovered just how ready for college I am. Correction: how ready I am to not live with my Mother.

(I will finish this later...actually have some work to do :D )

If they aren't letting you help out than I don't see too much of a problem with you being on the computer during those "off" hours when you'd basically be staring at a wall. And if anyone complains, just tell them you'd love to do some actual work!
