"Serial Speeder" Gets Front Page Coverage And Media Approval

I heard about this article that actually made front page news on the largest local newspaper in Albany, NY, the Times Union, on Monday November 6, 2007 on Al Roney's morning talk show this morning, and I just had to check it out for myself.

What some people will do for attention just blows my mind. A scheming newspaper reporter actually got into a car with someone he refers to as a "serial speeder" and drove 160 mph on one of the busiest highways in the area on a Friday afternoon - coming into a construction zone, no less, and then had the gall to write an article about it. Not only that, but the author of the article, staff writer David Filkins, writes that the speeder, a man named Peter Robinson, "doesn't condone dangerous driving". Robinson is quoted as saying, "There is a time and a place. And if you're risking someone else's life, it's neither the time nor the place. Why don't you drive fast in busy traffic? The same reason you don't go hunting in the city."

What can I say? There are crazy people everywhere - including the legal system. This man is will to risk the lives of innocent individuals and families around him on a daily basis. Twenty-five year old Robinson has received more than 20 speeding tickets - and thanks to his undoubtedly expensive lawyers his insurance premium is a lowly $1,200. Twelve-hundred dollars. That's less than the insurance premium for most first-time male teenager drivers, who are considered the highest risk. He pays only $88 more than the New York State average insurance rate of $1,122. That's crazy.

In my humble opinion, this reporter should be subpoenaed and forced to testify against this "serial speeder". In NYS, it is grounds to have your license immediately revoked to drive more than 40 mph above the speed limit (you receive 11 points on your license for speeding, which is grounds for immediate 31 day suspension of your license not to mention the 5 for points for reckless driving which equals a grand total of 16 points). Let's get this idiot and others like him off our roads, and make sure members of the media stop glorifying their dangerous behavior.

Don't you love our country?

Yesterday I was watching some video blog with my boyfriend. It was about some rich guy giving a tour of the most expensive way to live in NYC. This guy sponsored this blog to show off how the better half can live, and spent over 1 million in a day just to say that it's possible.

This guy spent 1000 dollars on a pizza 1000 on a sundae, and 1000 on an omelet. He rented a car for 200,000. He spent 25000 on a membership at some virtual golf club. 500,000 on a matchmaking service. The list goes on.

It's disgusting that this was the #1 Blog on the site when there were others about police brutality and other relevant things.

Ha.

I do not really know what that's all about - I'm unexpectedly popular with this one.

Speaking of which - this "serial speeder" moron is going on local talk shows to defend himself saying he's not really "all that bad". People just can't get enough of themselves.

can you please tell me what this has to do with progress..
im just looking for some advice ya know..
