Being in High School I see alot of screwed up things and I woder to myself, " what the hell is wrong with us." As people we were born with some type of emptyness that makes us want to demean(some help me spell this my grammer is horrible.) others for thier differences. But, I truly want to know if we can really stop this. Now i was bullied in School for the longest time (it wasn't until like Sophmore year when i came to grips with myself) and I survived it with no scars and no real disgust for my action. Sadly, many other people were either not as strong or not as lucky. (i lean towards strong even though it's not very nice to say.) But can we stop this bullying?
My first response would be yes, that we need to be tougher on bullying, but then again I'm not sure that would work at all. People will always have thier insecurities, and even if they stop it in High School they might not stop it in Adulthood (and I'm sure there are still 30 year old idiots out there that like to make fun of the smarter guy at the office.). What if we, instead of concentrating on the Bullies per say, we concentrate on the Bullied. those kids who have no self confidence and no respect for themselves. My Question again is how can we give some one self respect... You can't... but you can help them find it. \
This suicide problem and Teen depression problem is on the rise and there is too many helpless parents out there. We need better ideas on how to solve this horrible issue. We need to eradicate (help spelling ahhhh) the insecurities of the meek and mild (who will then become not so meek and mild). If we did this no AMOUNT of bullying will affect anyone. I know I parshiallly did it (still got some problems I'm working on.) and i feel so much better now. This is the problem and I have full confidence that the answer will come (I just hope it will come sooner than late.)

Society has become increasingly aggressive, parents have become increasingly busy, and kids are left to figure a lot out on their own. You are right that we can't give someone a sense of self worth, and that we need to help them find it for themselves.
As a soon to be teacher, I would love to hear some first hand accounts of how bullying looks from a student's perspective. Would you be willing to tell some of your stories from school?

You'll always have a job! There's a surplus of English and Social Studies teachers out there, but Science and Math teachers are desperately needed everywhere!
