I Hate The Media

I hate how the media makes a huge deal about Britney and Kevin (not just them but every celebrity) getting a divorce, it's like there's more important stuff that's going on in the world, then whose getting a divorce, or who slept with who. The media, I think, has gone over the edge instead of covering what's important they cover the dumb stuff. It's like do people really care if celebrities are getting divorced...NO, or if a celebrity cheated on his wife with their nanny...NO. People get divorces everyday and no one really cares, but when a celebrity gets a divorce it's on every single magazine cover, it's on the news, it's everywhere you look.

IM ON YOUR SIDE WITH THIS...I DONT CARE WHAT CELEBRITIES DO...I HAVE MY OWN PROBLEMS...AND I WOULD LIKE IT IF THE NEWS SPENT 10 MINUTES TELLING US EXACTLY WHAT THE WEATHER WILL BE INSTEAD OF 1 MINUTE AND THEN 10 ON CELEBRITY GOSSIP...ITS A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY WATCHING ALL THAT NONSENCE...ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE SHOULD GET FIRED...INCLUDING CELEBRITIES LOL

It is detrimental to us as a society. When more people are bombarded with Britney Spears' broken nose than the attacks and murders of teachers and an American journalist in Oaxaco over protestors reacting about civil rights suppression and fraudelent elections... You have a problem. The media's first role should be to create an informed citizen so that they can make meaningful decisions in life and not adding fodder in meaningless chatter during work breaks.

In my government class, we always watch about 15 minutes of the news each class and talk about current events. The day after Britney and Kevin broke up, we couldn't even watch the news in Government because every channel had something about their divorce plastered all over the place. There are alot more important things they could be covering. It's really sad.

People must care about it or it wouldn't be such a big deal.

I think it's way off to say "no one cares about it!"

If no one cared, those channels wouldn't get ratings and those magazines wouldn't sell.
