Happy Black History month my brothas and sistahs! I am pretty sure a lot of you may not remember that this month is to celebrate the african american culture. It feels so good to be an african american. even though I am half white I still embrace both cultures. Being african american is wonderful! My people have come so far. We have overcome alot of struggles. I am not writing this blog to discuss the bad events that happened to my people, but the good events which made me so proud to be african american. what I loved most about my people was that they were about loving and caring for one another. When bad times came they were not selfish. Harriet Tubman was a woman born into slavery, but escaped at the age of 25. Two white neigbors helped with her escape. She met the Underground Rail Road Station Master in Philadelphia. Now when Harriet was free why didn't she keep going and never look back? She knew in her heart that God wanted her to save others. Harriet helped free three hundred slaves in the North! that may not sound like a lot, but it is a mircale that she was not caught by a slave owner and killed. Her love and compassion for others helped many people understand how important it is to lend a helping hand when you can. Being african american is not just about my skin color or who my people were. It is about setting examples, accomplishing, and embracing who you are. I am proud to say I am Black!

This is probably one of the best posts promoting Black History Month that I have read. So many others focus on the bad, the oppression and etc. Kudos to you for focusing on the strength and positive nature of Black/African Americans.
We need more people like you.
