Well I just finishes the semester at my Old community college aka Glendale Community College. While I love the campus and faculty the students and a few teachers are an absolute disgrace to the campus. They are the reason I am changing to Paradise Valley Community College.
I was just starting out in January It was my very first semester and I was thrilled about doing something with my life. About 2 weeks in I had made a few friends and had an impression of the campus that was awesome. I loved the scenery and beautiful flowers everywhere. One day I was walking thru the cafeteria to get a snack and was approached by 3 back men. No big deal right. Wrong! They approached me and said Ey! come here! I said no Im in a hurry excuse me and they blocked the path. now keep in mind im 150 lbs and 5 foot 3 so Im a pale little white girl. I walked thru the tables to aviod a problem and one of them said to me " what you scared? Call me a nigger I dare you bitch! " and he told his friend I did. First of all nothing came out of my mouth except what I told you. I rushed into the cafeteria I was so angry I was no longer hungery.
I told my black friend Nelson who works there what had happened he told me i should have punched him. Im little I dont do things like that. He also told me that the people who do things like that are jealous or just looking for a fight and that if it happened again I could get campus security. I didnt know that, So 2 weeks later when it happened again I got my boyfriend ( hes 200 lbs and 6 foot 7 not exaggerating.) needless to say he confronted them and they vowed to never talk to me again as well as campus security which escorted them off capmus.
My point for writing this blog is At PVCC I told them what happened and they assured me that those types of students are kept a close eye on and do not pose a threat. I was glad, I shouldnt be afraid to go school and get an education just because you or anyone else wants to pick a fight with me because I am small. Its not fair. Its just not.
In the future should something like this happen again any advice. Keep in mind my size and the fact that more than likely there will be noone with me that I know.

Unfortunately, jackasses can be found on every college campus. That they were on yours doesn't mean your college is a disgrace... I don't know anywhere where one can go and not see or have to deal with morons. It's part and parcel of being social creatures. Some never learned those necessary skills and instead, act like douchebags with nothing better to do. If you're really afraid, you can always buy one of those personal alarms or a keychain can of pepper spray to carry with you. If nothing else, the personal alarm will draw attention and the pepper spray will give you time to make a run for it.
