Promoting apathy, war, guns, judging people, arguing whose religion is right what difference will that make in the end? None. Why is it so hard for us to picture a world of peace and equality? Maybe it’s because we think it can never happened. You might say well I’d love it too, but there are too may culture clashes and just plain bad people in the world to accomplish that. You might be right. But I believe the first step is if you can find peace within yourself. If you believe in god that's fine, but you shouldn’t feel the need to judge other people based on your standards...even though it is thought to just be human nature, but you don’t have to accept it. The same thing goes for atheism. If it makes you happy and it makes you a better person, more power to you for sticking to your guns.
But there is a difference between faith and fact. Justifying something based on a belief can be easily discredited by someone else, that’s why no one can really say if god exists or it doesn’t. Personally, I can neither confirm nor deny the fact that a god or all knowing omnipotent being exists. And I’m fine with that, I don’t really care much. I just try to focus on the things I can do to make my surroundings a better place for me and others around me.
As for me, having faith, believing and putting my hopes and energy into this one deity that might not even exist, is something that I as a person cannot accept. But I do have faith in myself, and that’s all I need to get though life.
I don’t need religion, I don’t need churches, or mosques or synagogues, I don’t need the bible, and all I need is to have faith in me. The human sprit is the strongest thing of all. You can say that god or whomever helped you but at the end of the day it was you. Man has the power to so great things, and we have, but we are only at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to using our fullest potential…and let’s hope we use it for good. So I leave you with these lyrics it’s a song called Imagine by John Lennon…
Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Very nice thought. I doubt we'd see it in our lifetime, though. But it's nice to think that someday everyone will actually unite peacefully and be able to coexist as a whole.

Haha, that's great. At least I didn't post a 80's ballad *looks horrified*

Great post.
I know where you're coming from. I hate to see faith or religion just used to create more barriers between people, to hate, to discriminate, to divide us. Here's my opinion: If a religious person is less loving and accepting of others than they would be without their faith, then they have taken a huge step backward. And I see this happening a lot, and with a lot of people.
