Cops using Stun Guns on College Student Without ID?

CNN recently released a story about a University of California Library Computer Lab cop that asked to see a student’s ID. The student, Mostafa Tabatabainejad, was apparently asked to see his ID during a routine check, yet he refused, jumped up in the middle of the computer lab and screamed at others to join his resitance. A crowd began to gather and police used a stun gun on him, and escorted him to jail where he was later released on his own recognizance. This was all cought on a student’s camera phone and the police department was criticized. They said they had only the protection of the campus community in mind, but what do you think? Is using a stun gun on a ranting student enough to stun someone in front of others? Perhaps the student’s obvious ethnicity had come into play?

This was entirely justified and correct to do so. The student was asked for a simple thing, and instead of cooperating, he chose to act like a monkey on speed.
Putting in your blog about his ethnicity was 100% wrong and stupid-it had nothing to do with him. You said yourself it was a routine check of student id's, therefore, this student was not the only one having his checked, he just chose to act out. He deserved it. The cops wouldn't know if he was dangerous or not, but judged on his behavior, I would have tazed him, he sounds like a creep.

Tazed? Anywho, I'm not saying that his ethnicity ACTUALLY came into play, I'm just posing some questions for those who read the article to think about. Don't be so easily offended!

Sorry, the way you wrote it made it seem like you were saying that. But..why is tazed with a question mark?

Sorry for the question mark; that was actually a piece from something I was writing - slopping cut and paste. Anywho, yeah, I didn't mean to come off like I think his race has to do with his actions but that maybe the cops were racially profilling him or something. Media never gives you all the details, and there are so many questions left unanswered. Maybe he was causing a scene that was completely unnecesary. Maybe the police were being a little brutal. There's a different Point of view for everything, and everyone knows how the media likes to spice things up and play with every angle to make as many people inscenced as possible.

And our conversation here goes exactly to prove how the media works..lol.
One person hears/sees something one way, but another person sees/hears it another way. In it all, we both eventually understood the correct view-but usually in media that doesn't work..haha
