Does anybody here know about the Secret War in Laos?
When the U.S. entered the Vietnam War, the role of the U.S. in Laos grew dramatically. The Hmong, a people of Chinese descent who lived in the mountains of Northern Laos, were recruited to become special allies of the United States. Ho Chi Minh Trail ran directly through the Hmongs countryside, and it was the principal supply route of the Communists. The Hmong, known as excellent soldiers, were recruited to form a 'Secret Army.' The American military personnel trained them and paid them; in return, the Hmong were to make the regular transport of supplies impossible. They were to keep the Americans informed and fight a guerrilla war that Americans were not equipped for. Ten Hmong soldiers will sacrifice themselves to save 1 American soldier. The Hmong were convinced that a war between the U.S. and the Communists would easily be won by the superpower Americans. They were not prepared for the American decision to back out of the conflict.
They were told that if the Americans won, the Hmong would win with them. If the Americans lost, they would be responsible for the Hmong tribes. The contract was that the Hmongs will be able to rebuild their country or immigrate to the U.S. after the war and they'll live peacefully. The unwritten contract was sealed with a handshake. It was believed that the Americans could never lose because they were "king of the earth!"
When the Americans say they were going to leave the Vietnam War the Hmongs went to meet with them to discuss their future. The Hmongs' question, "What do we do now?" The American's answer, "I don't remember. Where is your contract? If I don't see a contract, I can't know whether I said that or not."
Most people heard of General Pao Vang how he is Hmong's Hero, and from him how the Americans and Hmong fought together in the Vietnam War. He is proof that this contract existed. Some people may think the contract is being honored but what they don't know is when the Americans left the Vietnam War they only took 40,000 Hmong families and employees of USAID. The rest of the Hmong were to remain in the refugee camps until the first Hmong could become sponsors for the others.
Today refugee camps in Thailand are being closed, refugees are unable to come to the U.S. or France are being forced to return to their Laotian homeland and the Vietnamese are killing the remaing Hmongs hidden in the mountains for helping the U.S. in the Vietnam War. Everyday the Hmongs in the mountains are scared that they'll be next to die, they can't eat because their food supplies come from plants in the mountains which are being poisoned by the Vietnamese. Bombs are set up Vietnamese soldiers are going around the mountains finding and killing Hmongs. They even kill the babies by throwing them against the wall multiple times. Hmongs in the mountains are trying to get help. Horrible things are going on in those mountains and nobody knows. The Hmongs are spreading the messages through YouTube video, here are some videos.

It's a very sad thing that's happening over there. I'm Hmong myself and I feel helpless, many Hmong teenagers I know feel helpless. I mean we are still young and we really can't do anything but donate some money to help a little. However, money isn't the issue; to end the Secret War all the Hmong left in Laos should be moved to the United States.

It's basically the whole Native American thing all over again, just, in a different country. It's basically like that. And it's not fair, and it sucks. My condolences to you and your people. But I think it doesn't help that there's a lot of infighting between the Hmong and the Mong.
I am a Hmong and I don't support the idea to bring all Hmong in Laos to the United States. During the war, there were some Hmongs sided with the communist and they are not allowed to enter the U.S. It is very nice that many countries such as France, Australia, Argentina, Canada, U.S. and China resettled some Hmongs to their countries. What we Hmong is looking for is to allow our Hmong people in Laos to live peacfully. The deal between the U.S. and the communist was to end the war and everyone live together peacfully. Some powerful countries were assigned to monitor the agreement, but those countries did nothing and the U.S. and Russian failed to control their obligations. The U.S. ran and hid like chickens. They got the Hmong into trouble and they are pretending nothing happen. There never a deal between the Hmong and the Americans, it was a liar by the U.S. government. The U.S. must stop the Lao communist for killing and murdering the Hmongs. The war had ended, why the communist never stop killing the Hmong. We blame the U.S. for doing nothing to protect their friends who risked many lives to save one American during that war. Without the Hmong blocking the Ho Chi Minh Trail, there would be many more thousands American died in that war. Do something about the Hmong situation you cowards!

That's true and some Hmong are living peacefully in Laos and Thailand cities but most of the hmong in the mountains were promised a peaceful life in the US. I still say we should get the Hmong out of those mountains because we can't guarantee that they will live peacefully in the years to come even if we could solve all the problems now.

Absolutely, the US should do something. We Hmong can't do anything because we can get arrested by the government like General Pao Vang. Did you know the Hmong soldiers aren't recognize as veterans? They fought in the war too you know. Also, all the Hmongs who imigrated to the US didn't get citizenship. I don't think the US were fair to them from the start. We teenagers who are born in the US do have citizenship because if you are born in the US you get citizenship but it sucks that some of our parents or older relatives don't have citizenship and can still be deported.
