So many people blog about Senator Craig as a related topic to homosexuality. But I didn't see anyone mentioning the legal or political side of it. Next week, Larry Craig will face a judge and ask to reverse his signed guilty plea. Although it is a tough case, I wouldn't say that he has no chance at all.

Larry Craig was one of the people who voted for judges who are unaffected by claims of injustice in federal court. Yet, when he becomes the defendant, Craig immediately asks for his case to be heard. Luckily, he is being heard by a state court instead of a federal court...so his chance of success is a little bit higher. There for he joins a list of other conservatives who believe in fair legal system only for themselves.

Plus, he is charged with "offensive, obscene, abusive, boisterous, or noisy conduct" that tends to "alarm, anger or disturb others" which is unconstitutionally ambiguous. That claim would probably make many harmless speech illegal. Plus, we have to keep in mind that the uncover police officer was a willing participant. So, we can also question the policeman's authority because we don't really know who really initiated the crime. I hate it when police does it to fool you, I don't think that's fair. After all, Craig was only tapping us foot...sending a coded signals. He didn't actually "did it."

This has absolute nothing to do with his sexuality. I mean, gay people wouldn't really want Craig to come out as gay anyway. It would actually put gay people into shame. What Craig should have done in the very beginning was to get a lawyer and fight for his reputation. Not do it after his incident at the airport became the top news or after he signed the guilty plea. It's people like this in the government that worry me. They have this "exception" in their ideology just for their own sake. If Craig was heard by the federal courts, by the judges who he voted constantly during his years as a Senator, this whole Senator Craig's scandal would've ended and his chance of having his guilty plea reverse would've been zero.
