Its never been something I was particularly passionate about, it just seemed right. Minorities tend to be more in need of financiall aid so they get more. equilibrium right ? I honestly want responds on what its wrong or right because I am still not convinced there is anything worng. I'll start it off.
My first respond:
There are so many scholarships out there. Should it even matter if there are a few aimed at minorities only? Why are people so offended? The point of scholarships are to give certain people an equal chance and the fact is BEING A MINORITY IN AMERICA IS A DISABILITY WHEN IT COMES TO EDUCATION. period! If you don't beilve that then obviously you live a sheltered life or are just ignorant to the struggles of others.I understand the fustration of someone who although financially stable can't afford college, thats what the 12649832573475 scholarships not race based and student loans are for.

The most need is felt by poor and struggling, lower middle class students, who are of all races. It is wrong for a scholarship to go to someone who is affluent enough to afford to pay for their education, just because they are one race or another.
I support affirmative action, but only for American citizens. This sort of discussion seems of late, more in the interest of taking aid and funding away from Ameircan citizens, in order to give it to illegal aliens, which only hurts poor and struggling lower middle class Americans, who are of all races.
At present our economy is such that we need to put our own people first. We can no longer aid other countries, especially those rich latin american countries who have been able to get away with not providing opportunties for their own people, but I also blame the illegal aliens for this. They would rather hate American citizens, and attempt to steal their jobs and opportunities rather than work for them at home.
They have no rights in the United States and never will.
Not once did I mention anything about illegal aliens. You have brought in a whole new topic.
My debate is that minorities are statistically more in need of finacial aid.
You claimed: "The most need is felt by poor and struggling, lower middle class students, who are of all races. It is wrong for a scholarship to go to someone who is affluent enough to afford to pay for their education, just because they are one race or another."
To you I say
1.) The poor and the stuggling can not be compared to the lower middle class
2.) what is more affluent than being of the middle class in America?
"BEING A MINORITY IN AMERICA IS A DISABILITY WHEN IT COMES TO EDUCATION."
Wow, I've finally met someone who is ok with being crippled because of their race. Being a minority in America is a disability in America because minorities and majorities cannot work together. But wait, a problem. My father works out in a school in hempstead, texas. Want to know who is more disabled when it comes to education? Not whites of course and not hispanics/latinos/mexican americans, but blacks. And black don't even have to take ESL for christsakes. The reason they are disable out there is because the environment they were raised in, is one where education is not looked upon highly. The hispanics/latinos/mexican americans are taught that they need to make something of themselves even though they are a minority. This time it is not the white persons fault or america's fault, it is the fault of the black community for not putting a higher priority on education.

and that is why African organizations offer scolarships. They feel that by offering asistance more african american students will have a little hope . You sir have just given more evidence to my point.

First, I do not feel "crippled" because of my race; in fact, I feel liberated and free because of the opportunities given to me by my forefathers.
Secondly, "it is the fault of the black community for not putting a higher priority on education." I beg to differ. Education is of great importance to many in the black community and is one of its main PRIORITIES as well as with other minorities here in America; that is the main reason why so much emphasizes is placed on funding for minority scholarships, grants and loan opportunities and programs (the emphasis on these things are placed mainly by MINORITIES).
Also, education is encouraged greatly in poor and/or lower income minority communities. In fact, most of these particular children's parents don't want to see their child follow in their footsteps or the footsteps of those around them. Unfortunately, a lot of these children fall by the wayside because actions speak louder than words. When these individuals are SEEING negative things going on around them, each and every day, they are going to DO these negative things and push the positive reinforcement or words to the side.
This is not the case, however, with all poor or lower income minorities.
