Speed traps

In my city, we have had construction going on on our interstate for a couple years.  The speed limit is 45 mph all 24 hours of the day  Lately, the police have been mad that no one obeys the speed limit, and there is a fear that workers are going to be killed.  The other night, I was driving home at 10 at night (there were no workers out AT ALL) and there was a speed trap sitting on the side of the road.  When I drove past it, my speed flashed up on the screen (47 mph) and a red light started blinking rapidly.  When I got home, I told my mom about it.   She said that our cousin had the same experience the other day and within days they received a ticket for $375 (the minimum ticket for speeding through a construction zone)!!!  I personally don't think that this is fair.  It's one thing to charge speeders with a large sum of money when they are speeding and workers are present.  But it was 10 o'clock at night and there was no one around!  And I was only going 47 mph!  (My cousin was only going 46).  Isn't this unfair?

That's insane. Only one mph over!? Generally I know they won't stop you here unless you're going 15 mph over.

Yeah its usually like 10-15 mph over but they are really cracking down on this construction stuff... Which I completely understand when there are workers present, but at 10 at night? Come on!

The $375 ticket is unjustified completely.
Maybe as a prank to make it justifyable for them next time, you should speed through the construction zone with your doors open while it's filled with workers! Hahaha! (Just kidding obviously)

you may feel it is unfair and should be overlooked. The posted speed is 45 mph. you stated "all 24 hours of the day". So rather or not their are workers present at 10 pm the posted speed is still 45 mph and not 47mph.
I know alot of people won't agree with this...but i feel it is past the point of being "easy" on people who speed thru construction zones. Rather it is one mile over or two miles over. The posted speed is 45mph. So yes 47 mph is speeding.
Their are two many folks that do actually what you do...."well there are no workers their, so what is two over." Well, maybe not you, but two over at 10 pm will also inturn be two over at 10 am.
I see this every day. People speeding thru work zones. alot of them do feel that 2 or 3 or shoot even 5 over is no big deal, but it is. The posted speed is the law, you don't want a ticket, do go over the posted speed.

They should lower the ticket fee, since there was no workers present.
