I Say you Have a Beautiful Mind Even Though Society isn’t Kind . Chapter 2 : If you Couldn’t Start Filling your Plate………

So you failed a class. Well maybe 2 of them. Now how are you going to rank above your class? Don’t worry. Instead of enjoying your sunny days at Six Flags or Hurricane Harbor, you get an even better entertainment. This place is filled with sharpened pencils, ink- filled pens, wooden and plastic desks, monotone teacher, college ruled paper, assignments to keep you busy for months, and a long 2-3 hour class time with your class mates and teacher. This place is called: SUMMER SCHOOL. You can find this at your local high school after all the rest of the kids get out of school to go enjoy their summer.

Now if you have to sit in classes during the summer time there is only three reasons why you are there.
# 1. The Flunky- You would fall into this category if: you fell asleep in class way too much. You did not complete all of your assignments like you were supposed to. You did not study too much for your tests. You turned your homework in late numerous times. No matter how hard you try , you just keep getting bad grades.
# 2. The Catcher – Your teachers, parents and/or counselor, looked at your transcript and found out you were missing something. Some of your credits for the 9th grade year seemed to not appear on the page! Maybe you did not enroll in the right classes. Maybe you failed a class or two. Oh no! So the only way they feel like they can make them appear on the page is to put you into summer school. You have to get enough credits because you have to graduate high school some day. They don’t want to see you there forever.
# 3. The Advancer – You are thinking on your feet. You know if you take some classes in summer school now, you’ll have plenty of summers to enjoy ahead. You are that go- getter and want to get at the top of your class. Even if that means you might get to graduate a year early. You especially don’t want to have as many classes when you become a senior because you will already have a lot of work ahead of you. This is the pathway I took. But boy it was not that easy.

To make it even better the classes in summer school are a lot easier than the ones that you take during school time. Why? Because like I said they do want to get you up out of there because they really don’t want to keep seeing you. Its bad enough you have to pay for the classes. The only way you can get out of getting the classes for free is, the counselor gives you a voucher, you must prove that you can not afford it or give them a sob story about how you can’t afford it right now but you still want your education. If you get it for free then great. If not, then you have to shell out the dough for one or two classes. At my school, it was $100.00 for each class. You would think that you would be able to attend the classes for free just like you attend school for free. Guess not. If you fail, you don’t get a refund either.

When I was in highschool summer school was 250 a class. Alot of people my senior year also were able to do night classes and graduate when they wanted to. I thought this was wrong. I never did have to take a summer school class though. I knew my parents could not afford that so I would be in double trouble.

Great blog it is good to inform people about school and how much fun it was.lol

I am here to inform and help:

My parents could not afford summer school eitheir so I just told this so -called sob story about how I wanted to get a bettter education and be the first to graduate college and etc. They actually bought it. So I got to go for free the first time. The second time I went I truthfully told them I didn't have the money and they still paid for it.The whole time I never had to take any summer classes also but I was so ready to get the heck up out of my school because it sucked. THanks for your comment.
